Chapter 1067
It was getting late, but the lights in Howard’s mansion study were still on.
Howard took a refreshing shower and, clad in a bathrobe, ascended the stairs to check on Phoebe, who was supposedly studying hard in the study.
He gently cracked open the door to peek inside at the situation behind the desk.
However, he found Phoebe sprawled out on the desk, fast asleep.
Howard sighed, pushed the door open, and entered without bothering to cover his
footsteps.
Yet, the soundly sleeping Phoebe did not have a shred of alertness and remained completely undisturbed.
Howard covered his fist with his mouth and coughed forcefully several times, finally
waking Phoebe from her deep slumber.
Phoebe rubbed her groggy eyes and looked up at Howard.
“What brings you here? I’m not done yet, and there’s still…” Phoebe stopped mid-
sentence and glanced at the study materials in front of her, adding, “…up to ten more
sections to go. I promise to go to bed after that.”
Howard knew she was just trying to stall.
His voice was low and serious as he asked, “Phoebe, are you really that afraid to
share a bed with me? I won’t attempt anything you’re not comfortable with. I just
want to cuddle while we sleep. Can’t you trust me?”
Phoebe remained silent.
The former headmaster at the orphanage often taught them that men’s mouths were
full of lies.
What did it mean to just sleep in the same bed and not do anything?
What if he lost control once they got in bed together?
Howard was hurt by her reaction. “Phoebe, we’re engaged. Are you still unwilling to
accept me?”
Phoebe nervously chuckled. “Not at all, Mr. Howard. You should go to bed. I really am studying. I’ll go back to my room after I finish.”
Howard sighed.
He bent to pick up the study materials from the desk before Phoebe and held them in his hand, casually flipping through a few pages.
“You said you were studying in the study last night too, but when I came in, you were fast asleep. How are you going to focus on these last few pages?”
Phoebe was struggling to find her words when Howard continued, “A while back, you said you weren’t suitable to be an actress, and I helped you get out of the industry. Then, you said you wanted to take the college entrance exam and aim to teach at a university in the future, and I supported you. I gathered the latest and most comprehensive study materials for you, but have you really been diligently studying?”
Phoebe met his gaze and argued, “Of course, I’ve been studying diligently. But my foundation is weak, so I might not pass this year. I’ll try again next year. As for tonight, I really wasn’t asleep. I just took a short nap.”
Howard did not want to listen to her pointless excuses.
He remembered Phoebe from four years ago, still naive and innocent, lacking in
slyness like a child.
He sighed, realizing he might have been too lenient with her antics.
With these thoughts in mind, he spoke sternly, “Phoebe, there’s no ‘trying again next
year‘ in my book. If you’ve set the goal of passing the entrance exam, you must pass
it this year. From now on, I’ll
Come home from work to tutor you, check your memorization, and if you make mistakes, there will be consequences.”
Phoebe blinked nervously. “What kind of consequences?”
Howard’s words choked in his throat, and he flustered..

The readers' comments on the novel: Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson)
The novel is too abusive it spoils the joy of reading it. I hate the punishment part between sheena and Eliot....
