She picked it up. Before she could say anything, the caller asked, "How are you?"
"I'm fine."
Will frowned. "I've asked people to look into it."
"You didn't have to do that," she replied calmly.
Will sighed in exasperation. "You always make me feel like I'm using you. Like I have a motive for everything."
Elisa pursed her lips. She didn't want to explain, but remaining silent wouldn't be good.
"You overthink things," she sighed.
Will understood her intention, so he didn't elaborate on the topic further.
"Gareth has been picking bones with me. Otherwise, I'll go to you immediately," he stated.
Elisa was surprised to hear that, but she didn't think he would lie.
Judging from how much he wants to use me, he would definitely have come to me immediately. Something important must have happened today. Gareth, picking bones with him?
Unbeknownst to Elisa, Will was not the only person troubled by Gareth; Carle was also busy with work – he didn't have the time to call her.
Elisa repeated softly, "Don't worry – I'm fine."
"Alright. I'm more relieved now. I need to get back to work. Talk to you later."
"Sure."
Elisa wanted to reject him, but she didn't feel the necessity to say it out loud. I'll just let him do whatever he wants. It's better to be quiet and save my breath.
After hanging up, she turned on her laptop and started investigating Linda. Though her suspicions weren't on Linda, she needed to look into it.
She found out what had been going on with Linda and her family in no time.
Linda made two suspicious calls that lasted around a minute.
