Elisa asked, "Mr. May, is Gareth in a meeting?"
Thomas paused and chose to tell the truth. "No. What's the matter, Ms. Benett?"
Elisa exhaled and said, "I called him five times, but he's ignoring me. Please call him and tell him that Grandma is in poor health and it's severe. Tell him to call me at once! And don't tell anyone about this. It's crucial!"
Elisa's voice was solemn, and she emphasized how urgent the matter was!
Elisa had never exaggerated anything to scare others and wouldn't lie about such things. Thomas realized something wasn't right, so he immediately said, "Alright. I'll call Mr. Wickam right now."
"Quickly."
After that, Elisa took the initiative to end the call, as though saving time.
She gripped her cell phone tightly and walked ahead as if to escape from Wickam Manor.
This time, she didn't have to wait long. When she saw an incoming call from Gareth, Elisa answered without a second thought.
It seemed like an illusion. Elisa had just answered the call when she felt cold air from the other end. Even if she didn't hear the man's voice, it was as though she could feel a menacing atmosphere.
It seemed like Gareth was saying, Elisa Benett, you better have something to tell me. You're playing with fire if you used Grandma as an excuse!
Elisa couldn't be bothered and said tentatively, "Gareth?"
She needed to verify if it was him.
"Speak." Gareth's magnetic voice was cold and impatient.
