After dinner, Isobel went in a jewelry store, picked a bracelet randomly, and went to Sunset Aegis Motel with Eduard.
It was Ms. Sutton’s birthday, so even a rainy day couldn’t extinguish the enthusiasm of the party attendants.
Luxury cars were parked everywhere outside of the motel. Isobel knew quite a lot of them.
The car stopped, she moved her eyes away, picked up her purse, and got out of the car.
Eduard threw the key to the doorman and asked him to park.
Isobel stopped and waited for him for a while. As soon as she wrapped her arms around Eduard's arm, she saw an acquaintance.
It wasn’t any acquaintance but Martha's best friend, Liltie.
Liltie truly deserved her name. Her voice was soft, and she always dragged it on when she talked. It was said that men liked it and found it lovely and gentle.
But Isobel knew that Liltie was sharp-tongued when talking to her.
Liltie dressed up tonight and held the hand of who-knows-which boyfriend. Her gaze fell on Isobel’s body. Before she said anything, she first expressed her contempt with her eyes. She raised an eyebrow and grunted before saying slowly, "Oh, it’s Ms. Lewis and Mr. George. I was wondering who it was. I haven’t seen you for a few days. Ms. Lewis looks quite haggard."
Isobel glanced at her. "I was busy with work, so I don’t look as gorgeous as Ms. Moss."
She replied without much seriousness and turned to look at Eduard. Neither of them intended to continue talking to Liltie, so they went inside.
But Liltie kept talking. She walked behind them and said, "Ms. Lewis went to work? I thought you depended on Mr. Francis these past few years!" Her voice was neither too loud nor too low, just enough that everyone around could hear.
Isobel saw Martha as soon as she entered the venue. She wore a golden crystal dress today. With the lights in the venue, her dress sparkled wherever she went.
Seeing Isobel, Martha frowned and walked over. "I thought Miss Song wouldn’t be here tonight."
Isobel smiled then took out a jewelry box from her purse and handed it to her. "Ms. Sutton personally invited me. It wouldn’t be very respectful of me if I didn’t come. Happy birthday. I just saw a bracelet and I thought it suits you very well, Ms. Sutton."
Martha stretched out her hand without a smile. "Thank you. It is kind of you."
There were a lot of people today, so Martha had to pretend to be a good host.
