What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125 Paint a Rosy Picture

Josephine clenched her fists immediately. For a moment, she thought Lewis had hidden a bug on her.

The latter continued, “Alright now. There’s no need for you to be scared. I won’t do anything to you. After all, you’re still injured.”

Once he was done speaking, he lifted Josephine’s nightgown to check on her injuries.

Josephine remained seated on the cold floor. She had to tense her muscles up in order to control her impulse to shiver.

Lewis got up to his feet and walked out of the bathroom. Soon, he returned with a medical kit.

He crouched down and removed Josephine’s bandages for her. Her wounds were nearly healed, but there was a small section of bandages that he couldn’t remove.

Josephine looked up at the man.

Lewis’ head remained lowered, and his attention was on her wounds.

However, Josephine could feel chills seeping into her heart. If Lewis were to find out what Seth had done to her earlier, he wouldn’t be so gentle to her right now.

He would submerge her underwater in the bathtub, just like he did last time. Either that, or he might resort to other methods to punish her.

Lewis didn’t do any of that. He looked very calm and collected, which meant he knew everything.

Suddenly, Josephine heard him utter, “It will be over soon.”

The woman’s mind went blank for a moment. She couldn’t understand what he meant by that

sentence.

She asked herself, “What would be over soon?”

Did he mean that he would be done bandaging her wounds soon, or was he talking about something else?

Josephine didn’t want to cram her brain with complicated thoughts. She was suffering from a headache right now, and the pain would definitely intensify if she started overusing it.

Once Lewis was done bandaging Josephine’s wounds, he picked her up and left the bathroom.

However, he didn’t put her on her bed. Instead, he brought her to the room next door and put. her on that bed.

Meanwhile, Seth leaned against the wall downstairs with a cigarette between his fingers. He

tilted his head upward to gaze at the moon hidden by the dark clouds. Then, he exhaled a puff of smoke slowly.

He stood there for an indeterminate amount of time before flicking his cigarette to the ground and leaving the mansion grounds.

Josephine had no idea how she had fallen asleep.

Last night, Lewis had lain on the bed with her, probably out of guilt. She didn’t dare to move an inch after that. When she opened her eyes again, it was already 9 am.

Strangely enough, Lewis had yet to leave the mansion by then.

When Josephine opened her eyes, she saw him leaning against the bedpost with his eyes closed. He seemed to be in deep thought.

She remained silent for a moment, contemplating whether or not to get out of bed. Eventually, she decided against it and stayed in bed.

Lewis seemed to have sensed something. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and lowered his head to look in Josephine’s direction.

That caused her heart to skip a beat out of nervousness.

She hesitated briefly before raising her hands to gesture at him. “Are you not going to the company today?”

“Nope.” Lewis reached out to pat her head. “Are you hungry?”

Josephine shook her head in response.

It was just a random question on Lewis’ end. He had already picked up his phone and started texting someone when Josephine replied.

Her mouth twitched slightly as she lay quietly next to Lewis. While the latter texted on his phone with one hand, he continued caressing her head with his other hand as if he was petting

a puppy.

Meanwhile, Lily appeared at the doorstep of Alvarez Manor with some documents in her arms. She completely ignored the housekeepers who greeted her in the mansion as she made her way toward Robert’s study.

She knocked on the door. As expected, Robert was there.

After Lily entered the study, she passed the documents to him. “Dad, why did decide to kick Lewis out of the directors’ board?”

you suddenly

Robert accepted the documents from his daughter, clearly in deep thought. Finally, he heaved a deep sigh. “You won’t understand the reason why.”

It was natural for Lily not to understand, but that didn’t stop her from supporting her father’s decision.

Back then, Robert was the one who gave her her portion of the shares. Even if he wanted to take that portion away from her, she couldn’t deny his request. It was impossible for her to say no, after all.

However, Lily was more inclined to believe the truth in Robert’s words.

Since Lewis took over Alvarez Corp, Nancy’s side of the family was kicked out of the company thanks to his efforts.

Lily’s company started shrinking in size and operation because of Lewis’ active oppression. It could only rely on its affiliation with Alvarez Corp to survive.

“No matter what your final decision is, I will always support you. I had someone draft this contract last night. Please look through it, Dad. I’ve already signed it. If there are any problems with the clauses, I’ll amend them. If there aren’t any problems, whatever happens after this will be none of my business.”

Robert nodded while flashing Lily a pleased smile.

“Lily, I’ll make sure you get your fair share of rewards since you chose to place your trust in me. You’ll undoubtedly receive greater rewards in the future compared to what you’ll obtain

now.”

The woman envisioned the rosy picture that Robert had just painted for her, causing her to reveal a hint of a pleased smile on her face. However, she quickly suppressed it.

At that moment, her phone started ringing.

Lily dug out her phone, soon realizing that it was an unknown number. So, she killed the call immediately.

The same phone number called her again in less than three seconds. Slightly aggravated by the unknown caller, Lily said to Robert, “I’m going to answer a call outside for a moment, Dad.”

Robert nodded in response. “Go ahead.”

Lily walked out of the study briskly to answer the call. Just as she was about to speak, the person on the other end of the line spoke up first. “Lily Alvarez, do not sign that contract if you want your children to live.”

“What did you say?” The woman was shell-shocked after hearing the order. “Who are you? How did you know I was about to sign a contract?”

“Shh! Lower your voice right now! Don’t speak so loudly! Your children are in my hands right now! Think this through, Alvarez! Also, if you dare tell Robert what happened, I’ll make sure to shut your children up permanently!”

The moment the kidnapper stopped speaking, he hung up on Lily. She started yelling into her phone anxiously.

At that moment, the butler of her mansion called her on the phone, making her heart skip a beat uneasily.

“Mrs. Moss, something terrible, just happened! Master Caleb and Ms. Penny disappeared on their way to school!”

Lily froze up at that moment. Her phone slid out of her grip and fell to the floor with a loud clatter.

“What’s wrong, Lily?” Robert asked from the study.

All Lily could think of at that time was her children. She couldn’t be bothered to explain the situation to Robert. After bending down to pick up her phone, she immediately rushed out of Alvarez Manor.
