What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243 What About the Mute?

Lewis couldn’t be bothered. He was still trying to figure out how to remove the metal chain.

Sierra wailed as she pleaded, “Please go, leave now!”

“Can you shut up for a bit? You’re so noisy.”

Sierra didn’t care what he said and proceeded to sob uncontrollably. “Please go now, I beg you. I don’t want you to die here!

“Go out there and avenge me! I don’t want you to die because of me!

“I’m happy enough to have known you in my life. The seven years I spent with you were worth it compared to others. I never regretted it. Really, please go, Lewis.”

“Lewis!

“I beg you. Go!” Sierra yelled in despair.

Lewis frowned and threw her an impatient look

Before Sierra could yell at him more, the next thing she knew, a loud noise exploded right beside Sierra’s ears.

The loud noise made Sierra stand rooted to the ground with tears rolling down her cheeks.

Lewis blew the smoke away from the gun’s muzzle, then shoved it back into his coat.

“What are you waiting for?”

Sierra turned her head slowly and saw Lewis had his gun with him. As she blinked, two drops. of tears were squeezed out.

The smoke in the cabin was growing so much that Sierra started coughing.

Lewis grabbed her arm and led her outside. But they realized the door was locked when he tried to open it.

He kicked the door a few times, but that didn’t work. So he got out his gun again and shot twice at the part where the door lock was located.

The firm wooden door snapped open instantly. The smoke from the inside flew out of the cabin.

“Cough, cough!” After breathing in a lot of smoke, Sierra blacked out and fell backward.

Instinctively, Lewis held her and carried her in his arms before swiftly walking out of the cabin.

The man hiding in the dark stood up immediately the moment he saw people walking through

the smoke.

Seven or eight men took out their guns and aimed right at the people in the smoke.

“Don’t move.”

Before they could pull the trigger, the back of their heads was held at gunpoint.

They didn’t need to turn back to guess what those things behind their heads were because they were holding guns themselves.

Lewis talked with the few men outside after walking out with Sierra in his arms.

“Tsk.” When Seth saw that Lewis was carrying Sierra, his tone was disdainful. “You actually saved her.”

Seth’s intention was to leave her dead in the cabin.

But thankfully, Sierra had passed out and couldn’t hear their conversation.

Lewis passed Sierra over to someone beside him and asked, “Where are the people?”

Seth jutted his chin. “Over there.”

Lewis cocked his head and looked at where the bushes were. Seven or eight men were in a crouching position, being held at gunpoint, not daring to move.

He strode over to those men and looked around but could not find Derek.

Seth walked over as well. He said, “Derek is not here.”

Lewis took a gun from the bodyguard before crouching down. He fixed his eyes on one of the men and demanded, “Call Derek Moss now.”

That man was dumbfounded as his face went pale.

Lewis didn’t bother to wait for him. He took a shot at the man’s head. With a thump, the man fell to the ground and died.

Despite being dead, the man lying on the ground still had his eyes wide open. Blood streamed from the wound on his head, coloring his face red.

The rest were scared to death when they saw the scene.

Lewis pointed the gun at another man. “Call Derek Moss now.”

The man was stuttering but couldn’t speak a word.

The next second, another man yelled, “I’ll call! I’ll call him!”

Lewis turned towards the man who spoke up and gave him a look of approval.

Hands trembling, the man took his phone out. He looked through his call history, found Derek’s number, and called him.

After a while, the call was picked up. Derek’s voice could be heard. “How’s everything?”

The man sneaked a glance at Lewis in guilt.

Lewis stared back at him expectantly with a smile.

“Mr. Mo-Moss, everything’s done.”

“Is Lewis Alvarez dead?”

The man’s face was as white as a sheet, and beads of cold sweat dripped down his forehead. He pretended to be calm as he replied, “Yes, he’s dead. Sierra Woods is dead, and Lewis Alvarez is dead. Now what do we do?”

“Go and hide in the place we talked about earlier on.”

“Y-Yes.”

Right after those words left his mouth, the sound of sirens blared in the distance, growing louder as police cars approached from the nearby bushes.

The noise was passed through the phone right into Derek’s ears. He demanded, “What is that sound?”

Lewis took over the phone and said, “It’s the siren from the police car, Derek.”

Hearing Lewis’ voice, Derek stood rooted to the ground and froze.

With a clunking noise, his phone fell from his palm onto the ground, smashed into pieces.

But the call hadn’t ended yet, and he could still hear Lewis’ voice. “Derek, you better go hide too. Or else you wouldn’t be able to escape anymore.”

Lewis hung up. The screen showed that the voice recording was saved.

Derek was at his house. His legs had turned to jelly, and he fell onto the couch.

The only words appearing in his mind were, “It’s over.”

He was finished. He fell into Lewis’ trap.

Daphne wasn’t sentenced last time because she didn’t admit to killing anyone in the call recording with the kidnapper.

But now, he had told everything he shouldn’t have in the call. No lawyers could save him this time.

He thought that Seth would be an enemy of Lewis since he betrayed Daphne.

That was why he trusted Seth.

“Hahaha…” he laughed depreciatingly at himself.
