What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 340

Hands in his pocket, Lewis glanced at Conrad sideways. Conrad felt that Lewis was looking down on him again.

He smiled awkwardly.

Lewis said, "This is a privately-owned hospital where Alvarez Corp is a shareholder. If they were able to retrieve the information for you, it can't be genuine."

"Why is that?"

Lewis sneered. "With his personality, would he do nothing if he knew I was injured and hospitalized?"

Realization dawned on Conrad when he heard this. "That's right. He had already made a move against you when he first came to Hardington. Now that you've suffered such a serious injury, there's no way he would be able to sit still."

"Unless he's injured himself."

Lewis didn't keep his hospitalization and surgery a secret this time. Unlike Kiran, he didn't have his men guard the hospital and purposely went out to bring someone here.

Everything was calm until now. It meant that Kiran didn't plan to kill him.

"Of course, we can't rule out the possibility that they are being cautious and thinking that we are playing the empty city strategy," Lewis said leisurely, followed by a low chuckle.

Conrad's mind was struggling to keep up. He scratched his head, realizing that these two were engaged in a psychological game.

True or false. Whoever made the right guess would win.

"What should we do now?"

Lewis walked to the window, gazing at the serene park outside. After a long moment of contemplation, he finally said, "Call Miss King."

"Miss King? You mean Sophia?"

"What? Do we have another person with the same name in our company?"

Conrad was slightly stunned. He quickly retrieved his phone. "Oh. I'll call her right away."

Wasting no time, he dialed Sophia's number on his phone.

After a short while, the call connected, and Conrad hurriedly handed the phone to Lewis.

Lewis took the phone and coincidentally heard Sophia's voice on the other end. "Mr. Berg, Happy New Year."

"Miss King, Happy New Year."

As soon as Lewis spoke, the other end of the line fell silent.

After a while, Sophia finally found her voice and resumed her usual cheerful tone. "Mr. Berg, what's with the sudden call? Do you have any work arrangements for me?"

"No. I just wanted to know where you are and thought of paying you a visit."

Confused, Sophia asked, "Are you in Hardington?"

"Yes."

"So, you mean you want to come to my place?" Sophia wasn't entirely sure.

"That's right."

Sophia hesitated. "Well ..."

"What's wrong? Is it inconvenient?" Lewis asked.

Sophia forced a smile. "Yes, it's a bit inconvenient. Chairman Alvarez, if you have something to discuss, you can tell me over the phone, or I can come to meet you."

"It's fine. Since it's inconvenient, I'll visit you another time."

After Lewis finished speaking, he hung up the phone and handed it back to Conrad.

Conrad was utterly confused. He didn't understand the purpose of the call.

Lost in thought, Lewis looked out the window with an inscrutable expression.

"Chairman Alvarez, what do we do now?" Conrad asked.

Lewis turned around and glanced at Conrad. "Get a few people and pay Kiran a visit."

This time, Conrad understood. The visit Lewis mentioned wasn't a genuine one.

"I understand. I'll arrange it right away."

On the other end, Sophia was even more confused. She turned to look at Seth next to her and shrugged. "What does he mean?"

Seth put his chin on his palm and played with the orange on the table while smiling. "He's confirming whose side you're on."

Sophia froze for a moment.
