What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 415

Mrs. Larson said, "I don't know. He was gone when I arrived in the morning. He might have gone out."

Josephine pursed her lips. "How did he recover so fast?"

Mrs. Larson smiled awkwardly, not knowing how to answer her. She simply made up a reason. "He's a man, and men are well-built."

Tilting her head, Josephine thought about it as she took a bun from the table and munched on it.

The news about Quintin's recovery had naturally reached Lewis. He was at Fowler Manor with Conrad, dressed in a suit and sitting with his legs folded. His eyes were cold and harsh. He looked his usual self except for his slightly pale complexion.

Damian wasn't acting as haughtily as before. Quintin was fine and was still guilty of claiming someone else's wife as his own; there were no words to justify his actions.

Quintin sat on the sofa like an obedient student in the same clothes. His face was dirty, his clothes were in rags, and he looked like a refugee from another country.

Damian put on a stern face. "Quintin, how long are you going to keep this up? Quickly get the divorce over with."

Quintin sighed with resignation and, with a hint of annoyance, said, "Gotcha."

Lewis held a cigarette between his fingers. His calm gaze fell on Quintin. "You won't go back on your words this time, Mr. Quintin?"

Quintin glared at him. "I'm a man of my word, unlike you!"

"You little brat! Watch your words!" Damian scolded.

Quintin cowered and simmered down. Although he was reluctant to divorce Josephine, he was creeped out after witnessing how brutal Lewis could be. It didn't matter as much to Quintin if Lewis went after him, but he would get goosebumps at the thought of Lewis going crazy and hunting down his friends instead.

Lewis wasn't angered. He smiled and stood, saying, "I hope to see you at the City Hall at 2 pm then." At that, he cast the unfinished cigarette in the ashtray and left.

Meanwhile, Avery had just arrived at Josephine's ward in the hospital, but there were guards by the door. She tried to enter, but they stopped her from doing so. Also, Josephine couldn't recognize her, so Avery couldn't simply barge in. She was in a dilemma when she heard footsteps. Looking back, she saw Lewis walking toward her. Her temper flared up when she saw his seemingly decent appearance.

Lewis stopped before her and judged her with brooding eyes.

Avery scoffed, "What are you looking at? Don't you remember me?"

Lewis looked at her with an indiscernible smile. "I can't believe you have the guts to return."

"Why can't I? Is Elysium all yours now?"

Lewis said, "Behave well now that you're back. If you stir up any more troubles, you won't be as lucky as the last time."

"Was I the one who stirred up trouble?" Avery extended her arms to block his way. "Lewis, let me ask you this. Have I ever done anything to hurt Josephine?"

Lewis glanced at the arms blocking his path and looked back at Avery. "Move."

"You selfish bastard. You accused me of stirring troubles simply because you didn't want Josephine to get to know someone other than you. Also, were you the one who aborted Josephine's baby?"

Lewis' eyes flickered. His gaze on Avery slowly turned cold. "You, an outsider, have no say in our affairs. Move. Don't make me say it the third time."

Avery's laughter bubbled with anger. "It's you. Lewis, do you even have a conscience? You've aborted two of your own children. Don't you feel the least bit of remorse? Oh, right. You don't have a conscience. You probably don't even know the meaning of remorse."

Lewis' frosty eyes fixated on her. Although he didn't fly into a temper, the temperature around them dropped several degrees.

Seeing that, Conrad stepped forward and pulled Avery aside. "Stop it. You shouldn't run off your mouth when you don't know anything."

Avery returned Lewis' cold gaze. "Then, tell me. How would I know if you don't tell me?"

Lewis ignored her and entered the ward.

Avery shook off Conrad and glared at him. "Why did you hold me back?"

Conrad huffed, "Do you want to be sent off again when you've only returned?"
