Josephine waited for a long time. Suddenly, it began to drizzle. The raindrops scattered and sparkled under the streetlight.
Josephine gazed at the sky. The raindrops fell on her face and her hair. In her daze, she seemed to see the teenager again beneath the moonlit sky. He smiled at her dotingly.
"Alex," she mumbled and extended her arms. "Are you here to bring me home?"
The teenager did not reply. He appeared translucent under the moonlight. It was as though he would vanish at any second.
Just like in the dream, Josephine reached out to him. Once again, her fingers passed through his figure.
Tears glistened in her eyes, mixing with the raindrops running down her cheeks.
"No one wants me anymore," she said between sobs.
Josephine looked directly at the figure in front of her. She was afraid to blink because she thought he might disappear if she did.
The drizzle turned into a downpour. She was completely drenched. Raindrops, mixed with her tears, streamed down her face.
Out of the blue, she was blinded by a jarring white light. She lifted an arm to shield her eyes. When her eyes had adjusted to the brightness, she lowered her arm. "Alex" was gone. She panicked.
Josephine quickly surveyed her surroundings. She found nothing except a car parked by the roadside. A man exited the vehicle and approached her.
She tilted her head to look at the tall man. Even then, it was hard to see his face in the night. He squatted in front of her and looked into her eyes. "Are you done?"
Lewis was indifferent to her suffering. His tone was as icy as the winter weather. Tears flowed down her face. She whimpered, "You liar."
"What did you say?" His face twitched a little.
"Liar. You told me you would bring me home."
He pursed his lips and said nothing. The rain continued to pelt on their bodies. She wiped away her tears and grabbed his sleeve. "Why didn't you bring me home?"
Lewis looked at her hand. The raindrops slid down his jaw and disappeared onto the ground. He told her, "You haven't fully recovered yet."
"You're lying! I've recovered. Look, I'm not even coughing anymore!"
He stared at her. "Let's go home."
"No! That's not my home! I want to return to my real home!"
He suddenly stood up and grabbed her by the wrist. "Follow me."
"I don't want to! Let me go!" She kicked the ground. She naively thought he would give in if she were persistent enough.
Instead of letting go, he dragged her into the car.
"Lewis Alvarez, you're a bad guy! I hate you! I don't want to see you anymore!"
Josephine continued to cry. She was no match for Lewis. He forced her into the car. Lewis buckled her seatbelt and closed the door before taking the driver's seat.
She tugged at the seatbelt but didn't know how to unfasten it.
Josephine felt sad. She cried because her family abandoned her, and Lewis bullied her.
Lewis ignored her cries and drove back to Styx Mansion.
Upon arrival, he forcefully removed her from the car and took her to the bedroom.
