What Separates Me and You by Victoria Wilson Chapter 57 Probing and Clashing
Daphne could feel her rage flooding through her system. She strode toward Josephine and Seth in wide steps immediately and grabbed the stroller.
“Seth, Josephine just went through an abortion! How could you let her watch over Bambam?”
What Daphne actually meant was that Josephine might inflict harm on Bambam should she possess the desire for revenge.
Naturally, this meant that Daphne knew very well what the Alvarez family had done to Josephine. That was why she reacted very strongly out of guilt.
Seth just glanced in Daphne’s direction before smiling at her. “I need to leave the manor for now, so you should go to bed early. Don’t wait up.”
“Are you going out again? Does that mean you’re not coming home tonight?” A flash of disappointment streaked past Daphne’s expression at that moment. Seth tended to leave the manor early in the morning and return home late at night, but she had no idea what he was doing the whole time.
en after conducting her own investigation into her husband, Daphne came to the conclusion
that he didn’t have any mistresses behind her back Besides, Seth didn’t really converse with women on a daily basis–even if he had female clients, he rarely met up with them.
Seth did things very meticulously, so Daphne was unable to obtain any leverage over him. However, she still lived in fear and paranoia every day.
“Well, it depends on the situation. Lewis is looking for me.”
“Oh.”
Daphne believed that Seth would never lie when it came to work matters. Besides, Lewis wasn’t that nice to back Seth up by lying to her.
The man didn’t say anything after that. He turned to look at Josephine instead. “Do you want to go with me, Josephine?”
“Why are you planning to take her with you?” Daphne started to get angry at Seth.
*Josephine has to go home anyway. Once I’m done meeting up with Lewis, they can go home together.” Seth had a gentle smile on his face. At the same time, he looked pretty sincere.
Daphne gripped the stroller tightly to the point that her veins popped out. She found it difficult to return her husband’s smile. “Josephine already mentioned to me that she’ll be staying here for a couple of days.”
“Is that so? It seems that I’ve said something unnecessary.” Seth looked like he was finally reacting to the news.
Josephine quickly gestured at him. “I’ll go with you.
Daphne was no longer able to remain calm. She shot Josephine a deadly glare, not bothering to show her basic courtesy.
“That mute told me she wanted to stay here earlier, but now she’s planning to leave just because
Seth asked her to! What the hell does she mean by that? Is she trying to provoke me on purpose, ot is she afraid that she might get involved in more trouble if she continues staying here?” She
thought angrily.
Josephine didn’t pay attention to Daphne’s murderous look. She kept her gaze trained on Seth as if she were asking for his opinion.
The latter nodded slightly. “Let’s go together, then,
Josephine shot him a small smile while gesturing at him. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
Daphne’s face cycled through various expressions as she watched Seth and Josephine interact with each other. If looks could kill, Josephine would have died a hundred times over.
After that, Josephine followed Seth out of the manor while disregarding a furious Daphne, whose face had already warped into one of monstrosity.
The moment she got into Seth’s car, she could vaguely hear the sound of something shattering in the living room one second before she slammed the door shut.
Josephine snuck a peek in Seth’s direction subconsciously and noticed his calm expression. It seemed that he didn’t hear the sound at all, but there was also a possibility that he simply didn’t
care.
No one spoke up on their way to the destination. Josephine wasn’t worried about the possibility of
Seth doing anything to her.
After all, there was no reason why he would harm her in the first place. Her first impression of
Seth was that he wasn’t a man who loved wealth and women.
However, she was still afraid of him due to the fact that the way he looked at her resembled the way a predator that was hiding in the shadows would look at prey.
Josephine had no idea which predator was hiding in the shadows at the moment. It could be a
wolf, a fox, or even a hawk.
What she was terrified of was the unknown.
Seth drove all the way to the company. After he got out of the car, he took the initiative to open the door for Josephine.
However, Josephine still got out of the car before he could do so.
The man asked, “Josephine, are you going to Lewis office with me, or are you going to take a seat somewhere and wait for him?”
Josephine looked around the lobby. Almost everyone had already gotten off work at that hour, seeing as no one was manning the front desk. The dim lighting made the lobby look extremely deserted.
She gestured in response. “I’ll wait for him in the lobby.”
“Alright. I’ll go ahead first.”
Josephine nodded quietly while watching Seth’s silhouette disappear around the corner that led to the elevators.
Soon Seth arrived at the president’s office. He knocked on the door, but once he noticed that it wasn’t closed he pushed the door open and entered the office right away
Lewis happened to be seated on the couch while flipping through a document.
“Lewis”
The aforementioned man looked up at Seth. “Sit down.”
Seth nodded slightly before taking a seat across from Lewis. “Why did you summon me to the company at such a late hour?”
Lewis responded by throwing the document at Seth. “You know all about the incident where Fylope Corporation was stopped at customs, right?”
“Yeah. Isn’t it resolved already?”
“It’s true that it has been resolved, but I still have a few questions about that incident.”
“What sort of questions?”
車
Lewis pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it immediately. Then he leaned back on the couch while gazing at Seth impassively.
“You used to work with the company that targeted Fylope Corporation. What do you know about them?”
Seth went silent. After that, he thought for a while before finally answering Lewis‘ question. “My company has collaborated with dozens of companies in the past. Which company are you referring to?”
“It’s a company named TOPSUN.”
Seth paused for a moment, finally recalling the exact company. “Oh, you’re talking about those guys”
Lewis raised an eyebrow in response, but he remained silent. Clearly, he was waiting for Seth to continue explaining everything to him.
Seth picked up the document from the table. As he flipped through it, he explained, “I did collaborate with that particular company twice in the past. I was quite satisfied with them after the first collaboration, but during the second collaboration, they started to not take the project seriously Back then, those people wanted to draft a contract with us on a long–term collaboration, so I had them change their contract multiple times. I think they got annoyed and impatient in the end because they decided to change their minds and give up on the collaboration deal. Could it be related to the customs incident?”
