When I Met You novel Chapter 37

When Jarvis finished listening to him, his brows furrowed even further.

His tone was now one of suspicion on top of his sternness, “Really?”

Stanley nodded naturally, “Nothing but the truth.”

After saying that, Stanley let out a yawn and settled onto a bench. He closed his eyes as if taking a momentary rest.

Jarvis glanced at Susan who was soundly asleep on the bench beside him and he couldn’t help frowning…

So, was it really true that Susan was just sleeping?

Jarvis shifted his gaze onto Stanley who was on another side. He looked extremely confident as if there was nothing to worry about at all, so naturally, Jarvis had no reason to suspect his judgement.

Jarvis had known Stanley when they were studying in America, and he had long known that Stanley was very talented in the medical discipline. However, he never had a long-lasting vision to stay in this field, so after graduating, he chose to be a doctor in a not-so-busy department. That way, he could enjoy life while having minimal work, which suited his lifestyle.

Since Stanley had already given him his verdict, Jarvis decided not to worry about anything anymore. He watched the soundly sleeping Susan and carried her up before placing her in an empty ward so that she could have a good night’s sleep.

However, when his mind turned to the fact that Edward had fed Susan that kind of drug, which inadvertently caused her to almost meet an accident while driving late at night, Jarvis found himself unable to suppress his anger.

In the end, when his emotions were at his limit, he once again intruded into Stanley’s office.

At the moment, Stanley had just removed his coat and was planning to get some sleep when Jarvis bumped into him. Stanley stared at Jarvis with a confused expression before letting out yet another yawn. He was planning to flee from his room at any moment.

“Don’t look for me at this hour. I am so tired so I need some sleep now.”

The moment he finished his sentence, Jarvis grabbed Stanley’s wrist, “You are right, I have something to ask you about.”

“What’s the matter? I don’t want to entertain you.”

Stanley instantly rejected him before he even raised his concern.

However, this didn’t deter Jarvis at all. Jarvis ignored Stanley’s opinion and dragged him to Susan’s ward. He forced Stanley to enter the ward as he said, “The sofa beside here is great for your sleep. You’re so handsome, so you shouldn’t have any problem to ask for an extra bed from a nurse.”

Upon saying that, Jarvis immediately left without any further explanation.

“Hey…”

Stanley reached out in an attempt to stop Jarvis from leaving, but he knew his efforts would be in vain.

After making sure Susan was settled down, Jarvis darted out of the hospital and got into his car. He gunned his car out of the parking lot!

As the car sped on the highway, with the far proximity of the accident spot and the hospital, Jarvis had to use an hour to get back to that spot. He then slowly scanned the surroundings.

There must be somewhere suitable for a settlement. Edward must be nearby here!

Vanessa followed Ryan’s information about a room number and was able to find Edward’s room, but when she pushed the door open, it was empty inside.

Vanessa couldn’t help but frown. Why wasn’t Edward back yet at this hour?

She waited for a while as various thoughts swirled in her mind. It was unlikely that Edward wouldn’t come back, and the possibility of something going wrong was more likely.

He dialled Ryan’s number while fuming, “Investigate for me now Edward’s whereabouts. He isn’t in the room he has booked.”

Vanessa’s tone was one of impatience. She was obviously annoyed.

Ryan tried to console her, “Hey, relax, the time is still young. The effects of the drug would only wear off at eight next morning. You have nothing to worry about.”

After hanging up the phone, he immediately called the butler.

After getting the explanation from the butler, Ryan was so angry that he immediately launched into a scolding, “What did you say? I just remind you not to leave any evidence behind, and you can do that by turning off the surveillance camera on the floor Susan was staying in. Why did you switch off all the cameras of the whole villa?”

“Stupid! Too stupid!”
