Chapter 68
“Don’t push it too far.” Yara was getting ticked off.
Adrienne was way out of line, bullying people like it’s her birthright..
Yara continued, “Kris and Mr. Bryce were just acquaintances from before, nothing more. If your don’t believe me, go ahead, call Mr. Bryce.”
Adrienne cracked a smile. She couldn’t care less whether Kristin and James had something going on or not. She just wanted to ruffle Kristin’s feathers and make a show of her clout.
“Ms. Haywood, we’ve already given Mr. Bryce a heads–up… You’d better head home and deal. with this mess…” The manager was also quaking in his boots, afraid of the ruckus it might
cause.
But Adrienne wasn’t about to let Kristin off the hook that easily. “I’ve got these videos all. How about I share them online and let everyone have a peek, huh?”
Kristin shook her head in horror. “Please, don’t…”
“If you don’t want me to spread it, get down on your knees and beg.” Adrienne demanded, wanting Kristin to grovel just like she did five years ago.
In the alleyway footage, they also cornered Kristin and made her kneel.
Otherwise, they threatened to physically force the baby out of Kristin.
In the end, Kristin did kneel, sinking into the mire of humiliation.
“Please…” Kristin pleaded with Adrienne not to release the video.
It took scrub clean the scandal of the true or false heiresses. The smear campaign
o years to had also left her reputation in tatters. If Adrienne released it again, it would stir up another round of public mockery. Kristin didn’t care about herself anymore, but Summer…
She had to protect Summer.
She knew all too well how vile and ruthless the cyberbullies could be.
When the heiress scandal first broke, their house was exposed and crowds of people blocked their door, cursing from dawn to dusk. They would throw garbage at their home and engage in all sorts of disgusting acts, even… someone set fire in the middle of the night.
“Get down,” Adrienne commanded from her high ground, looking down at Kristin.
Kristin’s fingers were numb, her hands tightly gripping her dress, as she slowly knelt on the ground.
But Adrienne was still not willing to let her off the hook. With a smirk, she sent those videos. “Oops, I accidentally tweeted it.”
Everyone in the club whipped out their phones to search Adrienne’s Twitter. Truth be told, they

were all dying to know what was in the video.
In the video was a poorly lit, damp and messy alley. Adrienne and a few girls, accompanied by six or seven guys, cornered Kristin.
They laughed nastity, jeered, and spouted the filthiest language, doing the most repulsive things. They tried to strip Kristin, hit her, forced her to her knees.
It was all too sordid to watch.
Kneeling on the ground, Kristin heard the sounds coming from the phones around her, her whole body shaking like a leaf.
She thought she had forgotten it all.
In prison, she had undergone countless CT treatments to erase all those painful memories.
But why? Why did the joyful memories fade while the painful ones became ever clearer?
Even the heavens seemed to be punishing her for stealing someone else’s life.
“Kristin, did you think I’d let you off so easily? James is my man, and you thought you could mess with him and I’d let you slide?”
Adrienne squatted in front of Kristin, slapping her face with each word, each one harder than the last.
“Today’s the first day your son starts kindergarten. How about I send this video to every single parent of his classmates? Let them see what his filthy and low–life slut mother is… They will know you are a woman who seduces men, pregnant with a bastard…”
Kristin numbly looked up at Adrienne, her fingernails digging into the palms of her hands, the blood at the corners of her mouth starting to dry and crust.
After a long silence, Kristin’s hands moved uncontrollably, grabbing Adrienne’s collar, her voice trembling. “Summer is my line in the sand. If you hurt him… just try it…”
All these years, she had swallowed her pride, refusing to stand tall because she knew she was at fault. And she was atoning.
But that didn’t mean that she could forever be trampled on mercilessly by these people. Adrienne was momentarily taken aback, frightened by the look in Kristin’s eyes.
“Ha…” Pushing Kristin away, Adrienne laughed. “A bastard from the slums thinks he’s fit for Angelic Guard International Nursery? How did you even snag a spot there? Do you think I’d let your son stay at that school? You seem to be clueless… The principal of Angelic Guard International Nursery is my aunt.”
Kristin trembled violently. The school Rhett had arranged for Summer was Angelic Guard International Nursery, the best elite school in Silvergrove City.
“Kristin!” Harriet rushed through the crowd, panic–stricken, and hugged Kristin. “What’s going

on?”
Looking up at Adrienne, Harriet had already guessed most of it.
Kristin’s biggest fear in following James wasn’t Linda but Adrienne.
Adrienne was a loose cannon; even Linda was scared of her.
Kristin didn’t say anything and just kept shaking.
“Harriet…” Yara was close to tears, handing her phone to Harriet.
After a glance at the video Adrienne had posted, Harriet glared at her furiously. “Just because you’re loaded and powerful, do you think you can just hurt people without any consequences?”
“Are you her friend?” Adrienne narrowed her eyes.
Kristin panicked and didn’t want to drag Harriet into this. “No…” But Harriet held Kristin’s wrist firmly. “Yes, I’m her sister. If you’ve got a beef, take it up with me.”
Adrienne looked at the manager and laughed. “So can we fire the both of them now?”
