Chapter 266 You’re Not Alone Anymore
Right now, Johnathan’s mind was filled with blood and violence.
The image of his mother’s mangled body kept looping in his head. Every year on this day, he had to get it all out–keep punching, keep fighting, until every ounce of strength was drained from him.
It was always just him. Even if no one said it, he knew how terrifying he looked when he was like this. Even his team of hardened mercenaries stayed away.
He’d tear himself apart, lick his own wounds, then put on the human mask and go back to being that calm, untouchable man.
But this time… someone was telling him he wasn’t alone.
He found it ridiculous.
He snapped his eyes open and glared at Sierra, his voice low and dangerous.
“You’re gonna stay with me? Do you even know what I’m about to do?”
Sierra shook her head. “I don’t. But no matter what it is, I’m staying. Even if the ending is something neither of us can handle.”
A few feet away, Mateo and the others exchanged looks.
She’s lost it too, they thought.
Johnathan let out a cold laugh. “Anything? What if I’m about to kill someone? You coming then?”
Sierra stood up, brushed off her pants, and nodded. “Let’s go.”
“What the hell…” Mateo muttered. “She’s just as nuts as he is.”
She was supposed to calm him down–not gas him up. But now it looked like the two of them were about to blow the roof off the whole damn city.
Johnathan froze, eyes locked on her, his expression tangled.
“You even know what you’re saying?”
Sierra looked him right in the eye.
(
“You were there for me when I needed help the most. Now that you need someone–I’m not backing down. I’m with you, Johnathan.”
Even if you take it too far, I’m still with you.
He saw it. That look in her eyes. The kind of determination that couldn’t be shaken.
And just like that, the pressure in his chest cracked open. All the blood and chaos in his mind faded, replaced by quiet moments he’d shared with her. Peaceful. Real.
After a long silence, he said hoarsely, “You’re an idiot. All those things I did for you–I barely had to lift a finger.
And here she was, ready to give everything. Just plain stupid. Couldn’t even do the math.
“It might’ve been casy for you, but for me–it saved my life, Sierra said softly, “You hurt, I hurt too.”
And for some reason, that made it worse–watching him suffer and not being able to take it away.
I’m ovino vrat one last chance to walk away!
