Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1005

"What's up?"

Sherilyn just looked at him, her eyes seemingly drowning in a deep sea of sorrow.

"Something wrong?"

As she spoke, her brows furrowed slightly, wrapped in a layer of mild concern.

Was she worried about him...?

In that moment, Gilbert felt like he'd been given a shot of adrenaline; it was as if he had come back to life.

"It's nothing..."

Gilbert managed a slight smile, shaking his head.

"I guess it's just been a long day, feeling a bit worn out." His voice was soft, yet carried an ocean of emotions.

"And you still came to the set?"

Sherilyn didn't get it, waving at him, "You should head back, I still have two scenes left."

"No rush."

Gilbert's face brightened up with a smile, "Seeing you takes all the fatigue away. I'll wait for you to wrap up, and we'll head back together."

"Suit yourself."

Knowing his stubbornness, Sherilyn didn't press further, grabbing the hem of her costume and turned around, "I better get going."

"Alright."

As soon as Sherilyn turned, the smile on Gilbert's face vanished into thin air.

He almost lost his composure just now!

Ironically, there was nothing he could do for her!

He was powerless, to kneel down with Caroline, both of them, the people who hurt her, right in front of her, begging for her forgiveness!

In his heart, the heaviest debt of gratitude, he would face fire and water for, not hesitating to die a thousand deaths, without a second thought!

Yet now, it had become a heavy shackle!

Trapping his hands and feet, forcing him to watch, as the love of his life, suffered grievances...

Years ago, his reluctance to accept Sherilyn...

He wouldn't shirk responsibility, indeed he had no romantic feelings for her when she was younger.

But there was another significant reason, he knew well, he wasn't the true Johnson family's second son.

His whole life, would be devoted to the Johnson family, putting Francis and Caroline ahead of himself.

A man like him, if married, would inevitably neglect and even wrong his wife.
