"Remember, keep your emotions in check. Big swings can heat up your blood, send your heart racing, spike your blood pressure, expand your blood vessels... all of which can mess with a clot." The doctor paused before adding, "And, treatments aside, episodes like today's fainting spell could still happen..."
"Mr. Harrison, please, try not to be alone... That way, if something does happen, it'll be caught in time."
Not be alone? At all times?
Gilbert blinked, his gaze involuntarily shifting to Sherilyn. "Does that include sleeping?"
"Exactly," the doctor advised. "You might want to consider hiring a caregiver."
We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.
"Got it," Gilbert nodded. "Thanks. Could you prescribe the medication now?"
...
Stepping out of the doctor's office, Sherilyn gently tugged on the hand Gilbert was holding.
"What's up?" Gilbert immediately looked down, leaning in. "You got something on your mind?"
"Yeah."
Her frown was directed at Naylor. "Mr. Harrison needs his treatment, so should he be taking a break from work?"
"Well..."
Naylor hesitated, mulling it over before shaking his head. "Afraid not."
"Not?!"
Sherilyn was visibly upset. "With his condition, he's still supposed to work himself to the bone?"
She might not know business, but she had seen him swamped with work!
"Hmm..."
Naylor furrowed his brows, considering his words carefully before addressing Gilbert.
"You can't stop now, and you have to keep your illness a secret."
Otherwise, if his descendants caught wind, it would spell trouble.
"You know what to do. You don't need me to tell you. Just handle it."
Gilbert arched an eyebrow. "Alright."
"..." Sherilyn was getting anxious.
"Don't worry."
