Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1058

That Night

Rebecca White lay asleep in her dorm room. Suddenly, she sat up in the dark, her hands fumbling around as if searching for something. Finally, her fingers wrapped around her pillow. She let out a big sigh of relief and hugged it tightly to her chest, murmuring softly, "There, there..."

She wandered around the room, still clutching the pillow. Out of nowhere, she bumped into the coat rack, hitting her forehead hard. She froze, her eyes staring blankly ahead before her eyelids drooped, and she collapsed onto the floor.

The Next Morning

It was breakfast time. Gilbert Johnson grimaced as he finished his morning medicine, popping a piece of dried fruit into his mouth. He turned to Sherilyn and asked, "Are all the papers ready?"

"Yes," Sherilyn replied calmly with a nod.

He was referring to the documents needed for Jenna's school registration. Over the past few days, she had finally decided to get it done. Any more delays would affect Jenna’s ability to start school.

At the mention of this, a smile played at the corners of Gilbert’s eyes and lips, "Where are the papers?"

"In my bag," Sherilyn said, raising an eyebrow at him. "I'll give them to you in the car. What's the rush? You think I'd lose them?"

"You're right," Gilbert chuckled, nodding. He thought to himself that it wasn't so much about losing them as it was about her changing her mind at the last minute. Now that Jenna was on his register, Sherilyn couldn't easily walk away. She was destined to be his wife!

Before long, they were out the door. In the car, Sherilyn handed him a folder from her bag.

"Here," she said.

"Great." Gilbert carefully tucked it away. "I'll have Charles handle it today. We also need to notify the school."

Sherilyn didn’t have much to add. These were things she trusted Gilbert to manage.

The car pulled up at the film studio, and Gilbert dropped her off at the set, giving her a reminder as she got out.

"I’ll pick you up tonight."
