Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1140

"Airbag deployed!"

"Got it!"

A flashlight was grabbed, and his eyelids were pulled back. "Order a CT scan! Check for any brain bleeding!"

"On it!"

"Where's the family? We need to talk!"

"…"

The emergency room was a whirlwind of activity.

Galen stood to the side, watching, unable to tear his eyes away.

The first time they met was at the airport, and from that initial glance, he was captivated by her intellectual aura.

Objectively speaking, Joyce wasn't the most beautiful girl he knew, but her bookish charm was absolutely unique.

Especially now, as she fought to save a life, battling against death itself, she seemed to radiate an inner light…

To him, she was the most beautiful.

Galen watched her intently, stepping back quietly, careful not to disturb her.

Dusk settled in.

Joyce pulled off her blood-smeared gloves, removed her cap, and exhaled deeply.

Finally, the whirlwind had ended.

She changed clothes and walked out of the emergency room.

"Joyce."

At the entrance, Galen stood there, raising a hand in greeting.

"Huh?"

Joyce was taken aback, surprised. "What are you doing here? Don't tell me… you haven't left?"

Galen didn't answer directly. "I figured after your shift, you'd need a ride home since your car's in the shop. I thought I'd give you a lift."

"What?"

Joyce paused, then burst out laughing. "You… are you serious? Can't I just call a cab?"

"Well…" Galen chuckled, shaking his head, "I was just worried. It's pretty late, and I didn't want you to have to deal with a cab alone."

He added, "My sister once had a bad experience with a cab driver."

"Honestly…"

Joyce wasn't sure what to say, but his thoughtfulness touched her.
