Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1204

“I don’t know. My mind’s a mess right now. I just need some time to think things through.”

After hanging up with Rebecca White, Sherilyn stepped out of her room.

“Mom!”

Jenna had just woken up, her hair a tousled halo as she came looking for her mother. “Morning, Mom!”

“Good morning, Jenna.”

Sherilyn bent down and scooped her daughter into her arms. “How about I do your hair? Mommy can make you the prettiest buns today, does that sound good?”

“Yes! Two, please!”

“You got it.”

Sherilyn spent the whole day at home with Jenna. As evening approached, Galen Martin arrived.

“Come on in, sit down.”

Sherilyn pulled her younger brother over to the sofa and called for the maid to bring iced drinks and watermelon. “It’s hot out today, isn’t it? Sorry to make you come all the way over.”

She even fetched a towel herself and handed it to him for the sweat on his brow.

“Thanks, sis.” Galen grinned as he accepted it. “It is scorching out there, but I drove, so it wasn’t too bad.”

He glanced around; no staff were present at the moment.

Still, he lowered his voice. “Sis, is something up? You sounded serious on the phone but didn’t say much.”

“Yeah.” Sherilyn nodded. She wasn’t really worried about the staff eavesdropping—she’d already sent them off to their chores.

“I wanted to ask you to check on the house over on Starfall Drive.”

The house on Starfall Drive—the villa Sylvia Johnson had transferred to her name not long ago.

“No problem.”

Galen agreed immediately, just a bit puzzled. “What exactly do you want me to check for?”

“The place has been empty for a while now. I want you to go see if anything needs fixing—plumbing, wiring, anything like that.”
