"Sherilyn!"

Gilbert's attempt to hold her back failed, and he immediately got out of the car to chase after her.

What was going on with Sherilyn? Where was she trying to go?

It didn't take him long to figure it out.

Across the street, Edgar swung open his car door, a smile playing on his lips as he leaned against the roof, waiting for the girl by his side to get in.

The girl, with her head bowed shyly, bent down to get into the car.

Then, Edgar closed the door behind her and took his place behind the wheel. The car pulled away...

"Edgar!"

Seeing this, Sherilyn quickened her pace, shouting his name in hopes he would hear her.

But with the distance between them, Edgar couldn't hear her at all. The car drove off, crossing the intersection.

"Edgar!" Sherilyn stepped forward and shouted.

Beep beep!

A harsh honking sound pierced her ears, Sherilyn flinched, too slow to react, when suddenly she was swept off her feet and pushed towards the sidewalk.

It all happened so fast, and with the force of inertia and gravity, Sherilyn lost her balance and fell to the ground.

"Are you out of your mind? If you want to die, don't drag others down with you!"

"In the middle of the road, get a room if you want to be lovey-dovey!"

"Are you crazy? Fuck!" The cursing voices of the drivers filled her ears.

In front of her was Gilbert, his handsome face flushed with anger.

Sherilyn had fallen, but she felt no pain because Gilbert had cushioned her fall, protecting her completely.

"Have you lost your mind?"

Gilbert started off with a scolding, his emotions a tangled mess of anger, jealousy, and fear.

"All this excitement just because you saw Edgar?"

Sherilyn opened her mouth, trying to get up and help him up. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?"

He had just been discharged from the hospital; she hoped her actions hadn't caused him any new trouble.

Gilbert didn't reply, just stared at her with a gaze as sharp as nails. "Tell me, what's this chase after Edgar all about, huh?"
