Edgar grabbed his phone, swiped to unlock it, and started scrolling until he found that photo and forwarded it to Adela.

His mouth twisted into a sneer, "Sent it to you. Have a good look! This is the gem of a daughter-in-law you've been so keen on picking out!"

With that, he abruptly turned and left.

"Edgar! Where are you off to? The Martins are coming over for dinner tonight!"

Adela massaged her forehead in distress, looking over at her husband, "What are we going to do now?"

Gaylord frowned, nudging her to check her phone. "Did Edgar send you something?"

"What? Oh."

Adela, snapping out of it, quickly picked up her phone and opened the message, "Oh my God!"

Instantly, her face turned pale, her vision darkened, and she swayed on her feet.

Startled, Gaylord rushed to support his wife, taking the phone to see for himself, and his face immediately turned steely, "Those Martins!"

"Hmph!" Adela, steadying herself on her husband's arm, clenched her teeth in anger. "So much for a respected family! Well, fantastic! Just great!"

Immediately, she instructed the servants.

"Stop everything! No more fussing about!"

She then turned and went upstairs. A short while later, she came back down, dressed differently.

Gaylord looked at her worriedly, asking, "What are you planning to do?"

"Mind your own business." Adela scoffed coldly, "What kind of people do the Fergusons take us for? The Martins pull off such a shameless act? And I'm supposed to swallow this?"
