"Don't cry, honey. You know what they say, it's all about fate between parents and their children..."
"Really?"
Sherilyn's tears momentarily paused. Could it be because her intentions were impure? Did the baby know it was brought into this world to save its sister and thus, resisted?
Even if it came into existence, it refused to stay in her womb?
"Ah..."
Sherilyn closed her eyes in pain, "My baby, my child... Mommy is so sorry... I couldn't keep you..."
Bang! The door to the hospital room burst open!
Gilbert, tall and imposing, stood at the entrance, unmovable.
"Gilbert..." Sherilyn was stunned, unable to believe her eyes. How could he be here? Wasn't he supposed to be thousands of miles away in London?
He had returned?
But hadn't he said it would take at least a week?
And yet, it had only been a few days?
Gilbert, with a stoic face, fixed his gaze on Sherilyn, stepping closer until he stood right in front of her.
His eyes, unblinking and stern, bore into hers without any pleasantries, "You just said something about not being able to keep the child. What did you mean?"
Sherilyn was taken aback, rendered speechless.
"Nothing to say?"
Gilbert tapped his chin, still expressionless, "Alright, let me ask you this then. Why did you sell off your properties and shift your assets to Crestwood? What's up with that?"
Shock and fear spread across Sherilyn's face, unguarded!
He knew? How did he find out?
Their eyes locked, and Sherilyn's expressions and gaze said it all.
"Huh."
Gilbert scoffed, "On my way back from London, I kept wondering, what could possibly make you want to move your assets to Crestwood?"
