How he treated himself, Francis Johnson didn't care much how she treated him, but he was puzzled. "How did you find this place?"
"Huh?"
Caroline Thompson paused, her eyes reddening even more, tears quickly welling up.
"At a time like this, that's what you're worried about? Francis, where do I stand with you?"
Francis knew he had misspoken. At this point, how she found out was clearly not important.
"I'm sorry."
"Sorry?"
Caroline cried, shaking her head, "A simple sorry, that's it? You need to explain! What's the deal with you and Rebecca White? Did she come onto you, is that it?"
"Caroline!"
That was too much, Francis frowned and rebuked, "Don't talk about Rebecca White like that, she didn't know anything!"
"Really now."
Caroline's breath hitched, her laughter tinged with sarcasm, "Defending her already? What does she not know? She seduced my man, and she's still the innocent one?"
Her emotions suddenly out of control, she let go of Francis and stormed towards the yard.
"I have to ask her myself, does she even know what shame is!"
"Caroline."
Francis timely grabbed her hand.
His brows furrowed deeply, he slowly shook his head, "The one who should apologize to you is me, not Rebecca White! It's me who hurt her. She was young when she had our son, James. She's a victim too! If you're upset, take it out on me!"
Caroline was visibly shaken, her shoulders trembled, and tears streamed down her face.
So, it was true... Rebecca White was James's mom...
Rebecca White, she was James's mom!
"You found her a long time ago!"
Caroline, tears brimming, her vision blurred, "So, the secret romance was real, your dalliance was real!"
