Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 714

"Grandma's side can wait," Sherilyn said, setting her tone with a mix of patience and firmness.

Gilbert's brow furrowed in confusion. "Wait for what?"

"Really, Gil? Think about it," Sherilyn replied, putting down her glass of lemonade and pointing inside it as if the answer lay at the bottom. "Don’t you think you should consider Jenna’s feelings?"

Marriage is no small matter.

For Jenna, it would mean a world of change, a whole new environment.

Ah. The realization hit Gilbert like a delayed reaction, and he nodded, a bit sheepishly. "You’re right. I wasn’t thinking."

He quickly added, "I’ll spend more time with Jenna. I’m pretty free these days anyway. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure she warms up to the idea soon enough."

Sherilyn's response was a non-committal pull of her lips, her tone slightly mocking as she said, "Well, guess we’ll talk about the wedding once Jenna’s on board."

She knew delaying wouldn’t change much. Jenna had always been fond of Gilbert… But if it bought them even a day, it was worth it.

Gilbert, however, chuckled. "No rush. Good things take time. Besides, Grandma had almost everything ready for my brother’s wedding. We can just use that."

This reminded Sherilyn of Rebecca White.

She couldn’t help but ask, "So, your brother and Rebecca White… They’re not getting married?"

"Their story?" Gilbert laughed, "That’s a slow burner. My brother’s shy. Rebecca still has no idea he’s into her. It’s going to take a while…"

Just then, Jenna’s cry echoed through the house.

Sherilyn moved to get up, but Gilbert gestured for her to stay. "I got this. Perfect dad-daughter bonding opportunity."

With long strides, he entered Jenna’s room.

Left alone, Sherilyn pondered the potential of a relationship between Rebecca White and Gilbert’s brother. It seemed Gilbert believed in his brother's affection. But what about Rebecca?
