Gilbert frowned. “Let go.”
“I heard…” Callie held onto his arm as if she hadn't heard him.
“You and Sherilyn, that little vixen, broke up?”
Gilbert held a cigarette between his fingers, giving her a sidelong glance. “What's it to you?”
“Of course, it matters!”
Callie pouted, leaning in closer. “You're single now, maybe it's my turn, huh?”
Tch. Gilbert let out a faint scoff. “Has anyone ever told you that you've got a thick skin?”
Unfazed by his sarcasm, Callie retorted, “How else am I supposed to chase after you?”
Gilbert was amused, surprised even. “You're this bold? Do you like me that much?”
“Absolutely!”
Without a blush or a skip of the heartbeat, Callie raised her hands, wrapping them around his neck, and stood on her toes. Her eyes slowly closed, her tone thick with innuendo.
“I like you and want to be with you. Want to see what I'm like?”
And just like that, they were wrapped up in each other.
Whether they felt embarrassed or not, Sherilyn couldn't stand it! Watching such an intimate scene was bound to leave her feeling awkward.
She scoffed to herself.
Men's words are often deceiving!
Just days ago, Gilbert was full of vows and promises to her, and now, he’s wrapped up with someone else.
Sherilyn snickered silently to herself, turning to head for the stairs. In her rush, she bumped into someone!
“Sorry...” Sherilyn was flustered, apologizing before even looking up. When she did, it was Yates standing there.
“Sherilyn? Is that you?”
Yates smiled gently, not minding the collision. “Why the rush?”
“It's nothing.” Sherilyn shook her head. She couldn't possibly tell him she'd stumbled upon a cozy couple.
