Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 864

"No, don't!"

Before Rebecca White could react, James turned his head and held her tightly. "Please don't go!"

Rebecca was momentarily taken aback, then offered a reassuring smile to the police officer.

She tried to calm James, "Come on, James, be a good boy. This gentleman here is an officer. He's going to help us find your dad and get you home, okay?"

James pouted, clinging to Rebecca's neck, remaining silent.

Rebecca sighed in resignation.

Seeing this, the manager intervened, "Rebecca, why don't you accompany him?"

"This..." Rebecca hesitated. It wasn't that she didn't want to; she was still on the clock.

"Don't worry about it. I'll find someone to cover for you."

"Thank you, manager!"

Rebecca gratefully accepted. She had found James, and he seemed so attached to her. She felt it was important to personally ensure he was safely returned to his parents.

"Alright, then. Let's go."

"Let's go, sis!" James, showing wisdom beyond his years, instantly brightened up.

"You little rascal!"

Once they arrived at the police station, standard procedure followed, and the officers took their statements.

Rebecca signed off and inquired, "Do you have any idea how long it might take to contact his family?"

"It's hard to say."

Especially since James was under five, and his fingerprints were not yet developed enough for recording.

"Just wait. We've uploaded the situation and relevant information into the system. As soon as someone reports a missing child, we'll make the connection."

"Okay, thank you."

...

Francis received the message and rushed to the station.

While Sawyer handled the paperwork, Francis went straight to see James.

In the interview room, Rebecca was helping James with his drawing, using paper and pens borrowed from the station.

"Look, sis, I'm done."
