Sherilyn blinked in surprise. "Why would you ask that?"
"Just a hunch."
Rebecca White said, "Your voice, it's so listless. Something wrong? Is it about Gilbert?"
Sherilyn chuckled dryly, "Spot on, as always."
Indeed!
Rebecca White expressed her curiosity, "What's up with you two? Hasn't he been putting a lot of effort in lately?"
"Well, about him…"
Sherilyn sighed, briefly mentioning the situation with Karol, "He's out of the picture for me now…"
She spoke rapidly, a sign she didn't really want to revisit the subject unless asked.
"This…"
Rebecca White was visibly shocked, incredulous, "Gilbert doesn't seem like that kind of guy, does he?"
"Why would you say that?" Sherilyn was slightly surprised.
"I can't quite put my finger on it." Rebecca White shook her head, "Just a feeling…"
Sherilyn fell silent.
Before this, she and Rebecca White shared the same view, but the undeniable truth made her a believer.
She sighed, "Goes to show, can't judge a book by its cover."
"His thing with Karol…"
Rebecca couldn't help but inquire, "When did that start?"
"I don't know."
Sherilyn felt a hint of irritation, not wanting to continue on this topic, "Do I look like I want to grill them on how they hooked up? Not my cup of tea."
"Sherilyn…"
Rebecca realized she might have crossed a line.
This situation must be tough for Sherilyn.
"Sorry."
"Pfft."
Sherilyn laughed, "Apologize for what? I'm fine, really. I've been through worse; this is nothing."
She was no longer the girl who would fall apart over a guy.
