"She's clearly fond of you!"
Ryan's words barely elicited a reaction from Lysander, who merely offered a slight smile and remained silent.
He walked over to the window, casually pressing a button by its side. The heavy velvet curtains began to rise slowly, revealing the expansive view below.
The wall facing the stage in the VIP box was largely open, providing an excellent view for those on the second floor.
Ryan continued chatting, "Did I see this right? Wasn't that Mila with Jade? They both have the last name Sutherland. Could they be related?"
He quickly dismissed his own speculation, "No way. I remember Jade always claiming she was an orphan with no family. Maybe it's just a coincidence."
Ryan had done some digging on Mila, thanks to Giselle. She hailed from a modest family in a small town, having clawed her way into the Montgomery family with cunning and ruthlessness. After securing her place, she cut ties with her past, a heartless, opportunistic social climber.
He couldn't believe someone like Mila could be connected to someone as prestigious as Jade. It had to be a coincidence of surnames.
"Since when did you become so nosy?" Lysander glanced at Ryan, sprawled out on the sofa, his eyes sharp and deep.
As they spoke, the curtains in the adjacent box also began to rise.
Lysander looked over just as Mila also glanced out from her window. Their eyes met, and silence lingered between them.
The boxes were side by side.
But Mila quickly turned away and retreated into her box.
...
"Oh right, Giselle's parents should be arriving soon," Ryan said, getting up from the sofa and striding to the window to look below.
In no time, he spotted Charles and Mrs. Harvey entering the venue, conversing with guests on the first floor.
"Lysander?"
