Chapter 2219
Luke sighed and returned to the car, holding Gwen close to him.
“Drive.”
The driver started the engine. “Sir, are we heading to the same hospital as before?”.
“Yes.” Luke gingerly pulled Gwen closer and added, “Call Dr. Zachary and tell him to prepare for another transfusion.”
The driver paused for a moment.
“But Sir…you’ve already transfused blood to Ms. Larson three times this month.
“Now that her condition is getting worse, you can’t keep on transfusing your blood to her. Your body won’t be able to handle it any longer.
“Why don’t you tell Ms. Larson the truth about her illness? As long as she’s willing to cooperate, we might be able to find a new treatment that works. You won’t want both you and Ms. Larson to suffer, right?”
Luke chuckled upon hearing this.
“Have you somehow become the new boss without my knowing? Why don’t you take over my job and start keeping an eye on the gangs in Merchant City and Sea City, huh?”
Even though he was smiling when he said this, and the tone of his voice was as gentle as ever, it nonetheless sounded vicious and hostile to the driver’s ears.
He lowered his head in shame and replied, “I… That’s not what I meant at all…”
Then, he clamped his mouth shut and stepped on the gas. He should not have stuck his nose into Luke Jones’ business!
However…
The driver sighed as he glanced at Luke’s sallow face through the rearview mirror. Luke had sacrificed so much for this woman.
On top of that, he had willingly assumed the role of the bad guy to prevent Gwen from finding out about her illness:

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
