Chapter 2338
The warm afternoon sun seeped through the window and into the dining room.
Gwen's tiny, pleading face looked extra endearing in the warm light.
Luke turned around, but when faced with Gwen's hopeful gaze, the words 'in your dreams' got caught in his throat, unable to be enunciated. He froze for a moment and finally asked,"What...do you want to eat?"
Truth be told, from the moment he rose and became the ruler of Sea City, he had sworn never to step foot in a kitchen again.
It was not because he hated cooking, but because...the only reason he had learned cooking in the first place was to appease the men he thought were his friends.
When he first joined the mob, he treated everyone like a friend and constantly cooked for them out of kindness, but what happened after that? When he was bullied for his size, his 'friends' had declared to everyone else that he was nothing but a slave to them.
No matter how furious he was, Luke knew he could never stand a chance against them.
At that time, he was inexperienced and had no one to rely on, so he knew the only chance he had of surviving was to bear this injustice in silence.
The reason he chose to remain in the mob was that, without their support, he would have an even harder time trying to survive on his own.
Therefore, he remained as a lowly cook in charge of taking care of everyone's meals, at the expense of being looked down on and treated like a slave, until one day...
When he finally met that person, he finally understood that even skinny, physically disadvantaged people could succeed as long as they had the courage and guts to survive.
That night, he injured almost half the gangsters with his trusty kitchen knife.
After slaughtering the leader, who picked on him more than anyone else, he became the new, rightful ruler of the mob.
From that day onwards Luke swore he would never step foot ina kitchen or touch another knife again.
This contained all the memories of his rough and tumble past, the memories that he would never want to relive, no matter what.

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
