Chapter 2696
The atmosphere in the room suddenly turned quiet.
Rachel furrowed her brow and turned to stare at Gwen with a look of disbelief.
Rachel was a doctor who specialized in the treatment of comatose patients, so she had seen plenty during her time and was thus always able to keep calm even in stressful situations.
To be frank, Rachel’s first impression of Gwen had not been a good one.
Rachel remembered the numerous times Gwen had tried to escape from Luke while in Merchant City. Not only that, but she even witnessed Gwen trying to persuade Kate to help her take care of Luke after she was gone.
Therefore, Rachel had always thought of Gwen as a labile and extremely emotionally–driven person.
However, this same woman was asking her about Luke’s demise so calmly and in such a collected manner that it shocked Rachel.
She glanced again at Gwen, frowning. “I thought that after running into Steven, your entire brain would be so preoccupied with thoughts of Luke that you wouldn’t be able to think straight.”
Gwen paused for a moment, then let out a self–deprecating laugh. “To be quite honest, I had lost all rationality when I first laid eyes on Steven, but I’m so familiar with Luke that I remember every last detail on his body and regarding his mannerisms.
“Therefore, when I realized that Steven’s body language and behavior were totally different from Luke’s, I quickly regained my rationality and learned to think straight.”
Gwen sighed and fixated her gaze on Rachel. “So…does this mean that Steven is Luke?”
Rachel sighed, stood up, and turned to gaze at the snowing city outside. “I’m reluctant to come to any conclusion before the DNA results come out, but I can say with ninety–percent certainty that Steven is, in fact, Luke, or at least…”
She paused for a moment. “At least, that body belongs to Luke.”
Gwen momentarily faltered when she heard this.
She bit her lip and asked, “What are you trying to say…?”
“Have you ever thought-” Rachel turned to look at her. “Have you ever considered the possibility that something that you only see in movies could, in fact, happen in real life?

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
