Alice triumphantly sent the text as she stretched herself, yawning. Then, she switched off the backup phone, went out into the yard, and tossed it into the man-made lake behind Blue Bay Villa.
There. Evidence destroyed.
“What are you doing? “ Suddenly, a cold voice rang out behind her.
Alice froze that instant, and it was only a long while later that she turned around somewhat stiffly.
Joshua stood behind her and leaned against one of the gazebo’s pillars. He fixed his cool, impassive gaze on Alice’s face.
Alice suddenly felt grateful that she texted Irene instead of calling her.
Did he…notice anything?
Alice let out a small cough and tried to suppress the panic she was feeling. “It’s a backup phone that I used when conducting business abroad. I found it just now and discovered it had already broken, so I can’t use it anymore. I threw it into the lake out of frustration.“
She scratched her head sheepishly. “Was I too rash? Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to throw it into the lake. It might pollute the water…“
“You’re right. It might pollute the lake.“ Joshua glanced at her, then turned to look at the lake and said sternly, “Why don’t I get someone to fish it out?”
Alice bit down on her lip. “I don’t think that’s necessary.“ She turned around and pretended to gaze at the lake wistfully. “This lake is so big, and it’ll probably take ages for anyone to find anything in there. It doesn’t seem worth it to spend so much time and effort just to fish out a broken backup phone. What do you think?“
Joshua shot her an impassive smile, then turned around and headed back into the house. “Since that’s what you think, I’ll do it your way.“
Alice could not help but let out a sigh of relief at his response.
However, little did she know, this sigh did not manage to escape Joshua’s sharp ears.
His footsteps did not stop, but the glint in his eyes turned cold.

The readers' comments on the novel: Will you marry me, My Ex-Wife (Luna and Joshua)
Luna is sooo stupid!...
This story line is sickening… her children, Nellie in particular, do not like Malcolm. She is already married to Joshua, the father of her children who loves her more than Malcolm ever could. Just disgusting....
Another “misunderstanding”…… poor Luna, why can’t she just say the Quinns kidnapped me instead of assuming Joshua is doing the wrong thing. Terrible....
I sure hope Aura gets arrested and pays for her many crimes soon, along with Adrian and Michael. Joshua and Luna need peace with their children....
Joshua is stupid, he says he loves Luna but refuses to tell her the truth thinking he can never recover from all the deceit, if he told the truth he could redeem himself and live a happy life with his family rather than continue to protect a bunch of evil criminals. Terrible decisions by a man who is smart enough to run a multi faceted company....
Omg this author is twisted!! When does Luna catch a break! This is awful. Aurasnd Fiona are evil, evil women and are using the children to commit their crimes 🤬...
And now the author has made it sound like he cares more for Fiona who he has only known a couple of weeks than Luna, his wife, the love of his life. Stupid and pathetically disgusting....
Wow, making Joshua out to be so stupid, ugh. Yes he told this horrible bitch he would accompany her until she died, but she lied about her fake illness so I guess he’ll have to live with her forever! He also promised to love, honor and cherish his wife Luna however seems to forget that with each passing malicious mistress, Aura, Alice and now Fiona. Awful. Let’s get past this into some storyline that involves some happiness for Luna… the only woman who truly cares for and loves him. Get rid of Fiona, soon....
So disgusted with this Fiona storyline, hope it doesn’t last much longer. Joshua told her when they made the deal he had someone in his heart and would not sleep with her. They could be faking a relationship and he doesn’t have to be so nasty to Luna and the kids. It’s heartbreaking and giving him another ridiculous relationship is unnecessary. Just makes more misunderstandings for Luna and harder for her to forgive him....
Joshua is in the wrong, even if Fiona asked him to keep their fake relationship a secret he should have told Luna what was going on. After all, supposedly he lives Luna and the children and is doing this for them. Being deceiving is not working for him....
