Chapter 114 I Don’t Have Time for That 

Emelie clenched her fingers tightly, nails digging painfully into her palms, 

She called out calmly, “Dad, put down the laufe. Put it down.” 

Ronan’s face paled upon seeing the police. “LI I don’t know what happened, Emelie. I didn’t mean to. I don’t know why it turned out like this 

“Where did you get the knife? Emelie swallowed hard 

“wewe waited in the hallway for so long, and the doctor didn’t come. I thought of peeling an apple for your mom. 

“Then the nurse said the surgery was canceled and told us to go back. She said the heart was not available anymore. They 

ey didn’t explain clearly. I got upset and…” 

Emelie’s voice softened. “Put the knife down. Let her go. I’ll handle the rest. 

Roman nodded rapidly. 

Helpless and unsure of what to do, he shaklly moved the knife away from the nurse’s throat. 

The nurse fled immediately. Police swarmed in, pinning Roman to the ground. Emelie closed her eyes, unable to w 

watch. 

Police swiftly cufted and took Ronan away. Emelie moved to follow, but an officer stopped her “Are you a family member?” 

Emelle pressed her lips together. “Yes.” 

“Come with us then.” 

Emelie was brought to the station in another squad car. But she couldn’t see Ronan, only the two officers handling the case. 

Despite the chaos, Emelie remained composed, sincerely answering all their questions. 

Finally, she added, “My dad is a good person. He didn’t mean to cause trouble. He was worried about my mom and acted recldessly. 

“His limited education led to a misunderstanding of the doctor’s explanation. I can compensate the injured nurse and the hospital, whatever it takes. “ 

The female police officer nodded. “We understand the situation from the hospital. 

“While Ronan had his reason, medical disturbances are now criminal offenses. His offense could range from light to heavy charge. 

“At worst, he could be sentenced to imprisonment for three to seven years.” 

Emelie struggled to speak. “Is there… no other way?” 

“A good lawyer can help you a lot. Go get one. 

Emelie walked out of the police station. It was noon, and the sun shone brightly. 

She stood under the sun for a moment, feeling like all the moisture in her body was evaporating. Her throat was dry and sore. 

She took out her phone and made a call. 

No answer on the first try. She called again. 

The second one finally connected near the end 

William’s cold voice sounded even icier over the phone line. “I’m in a meeting. You have three minutes.” 

Emelie asked straight to the point. “My mom’s heart transplant. Was it you behind it again?” 

William replied, “What heart?” 

“My mom was supposed to undergo a heart transplant. But suddenly, the heart was allocated to someone else. Did you sabotage it?” William seemed to find it ridiculous. “Do you have prood?” 

Proof? William never left any evidence behind. 

Emelie enunciated each word. “You know my mom has a heart condition–don’t deny it! I remember! 

“The day you made me go back to work, you said, ‘Give your mom’s current condition, I thought you needed a high–paying, stable job.“” 

He knew her mom had heart disease, and her mom lost her chance at a heart transplant she could hardly believe it was just a coincidence. William admitted. “Elmow. And I did say that. So?” 

“So you took my mom’s heart to punish me! William, torment me however you want, but leave my family alone! 

“Do you know my mother only has six months left to live? If we don’t find a donor within that time, she’ll diel you’re lilling her!” William sounded impatient. “Do you think I have no better things to do with my time than obsess over your family matters? 

“If you didn’t, how did you know about my mom’s illness?” 

“If you want answers, find them yourself. Nobody owes you an explanation” 

He loosened his tie with a cold expression outside the conference room. Then, he turned and went back in. “Let’s continue the meeting 

The executives exchanged glances. It was the first time they’d seen William take a personal call during a queeting 

Chapter 115 He Has Not Stooped That Low 

The meeting ended in an hour, and William retumed to his office. 

His secretary, Fabian, went in immediately to update. 

“Mr. Middleton, Ms. Bowen’s father’s surgery is underway and hasn’t finished yet. If there’s any news, the hospital will contact me.” 

William frowned slightly but replied, “Find out what happened to Emelie.” 

Fabian paused and then said, “okay.” 

After leaving the police station, Emelie tetumed to Alderbrook 

When the incident occurred, Billy, her brother–in–law, quickly tools Certa away. 

If Greta had seen it, her condition could have worsened from the agitation. 

Once she entered the house, Eliana rushed to askcher, “Emelle, how’s Dad?” 

“He’s been detained,” Emelie replied. 

Eliana collapsed into a chair. “Does that mean he’s going to jail?” 

Emelie nodded. “Maybe.” 

Ellana bit her lip, pounding her lee in self–reproach. “It’s all my fault! I knew Dad gets riled up easily but didn’t watch him closely enough!” 

“Don’t blame yourself. I’ll get a lawyer for Dad. There should be a way out,” Emelie said, pouring herself a glass of water. 

“How’s Mom?” 

Eliana pointed to the bedroom. “She’s very worried. But thankfully, she hasn’t had an episode. She’s resting there.” 

Emelie went in to check on Greta. 

Seeing her, Greta brightened with hope, sitting up. “Emelie, your father…” 

Emelie eased her back down “ll handle Dad’s matter. Trust me. 

Tears fell from Greta’s eyes. 

“I told you not to come back, not to contact us. Our troubles always hold you back. We are a burden to you. 

“We’re family, so there’s no need for that. Every problem has a solution.”
