Chapter 143 The Mastermind Was an Old Acquaintance
“I opened a small grocery store with your dad. You, Eli, and Ash were still young and would head to the snack section right after school,” Goeta said, reminiscing. She continued, “Your dad would scold you there for eating the store away. Then, you would hide behind me as he tried to punish you three. I protected you guys, and you ran outside in joy.
“your dad didn’t really want to push you guys. He let it go after 1 stopped him. He didn’t want you three to eat too much because he wanted to surprise you guys with prawns for dinner. Ah, those were the good old days”
Indeed, those were the good old days.
Before everything that had happened, their lives were simple yet fulfilled. It was the trap that tore their family apart.
Emelie still had no idea how thingsturned out the way it did.
After she made some friends, she tried to investigate. However, those people from back then disappeared without a trace.
Sometimes, she would wonder if her life would be completely different if it weren’t for the trap.
“Eme, promise me something. If I can’t be saved anymore, don’t waste money on me. I don’t want you to lose money and me at the same time. I don’t want to burden you, even in death.”
Emelie teared up and silently shook her head. She wouldn’t let that happen

For the next two days, Samuel had no job for Emelle, so she took care of her mom at the hospital.
Greta was great at knitting scarves. She wanted to knit one for Emelie because it was winter, and she knew Emelie didn’t like the cold.
Emelie thought knitting wouldn’t be too tiring. Plus, it would be nice for her mom to have something to do. Greta wouldn’t keep thinking about giving up on treatment as well.
Thus, Emelie bought some yam and a pair of knitting n
She held the yamas Greta katted the scarf. They worked together, and half of the start was done soon.
However, the peace didn’t last long, and Emelie received some messages.
They were from Mona
“Emelle, someone snapped a video of you horseback riding with Wilham. You’re trending on the intemet again.”
There was a Linkas well.
Emelie tapped on it and saw that it was a video of William riding a home with her. She couldn’t handle it anymore, so she pulled the lead and made the horse rear up.
It was most likely taken by one of the visitors at the riding center.
The video wasn’t posted with ill intent. Instead, they were focusing on how dashing the man looked and how pretty she was.
Emelie read the comments. They were mostly complimenting their looks as well. They also sald how William was great at horseback riding and how it looked like a show.
Emelie browsed through the comments, and it was nothing serious. So, she didn’t care about it.
Ever since short–form videos became popular, it was easy for anyone to become viral. However, the fame was short–lived, like a firework

That night, a post appeared online. It pointed out that the female horseback rider was a family member of the person causing a scene at the hospital two months
“Recently, her dad was sentenced to only three months in jail. At first, I was in disbelief. Now, everything makes sense. It turns out that she has found herself a great backing”
After the post appeared, the comments started going in a different direction–they began attacking Emelie.
What was weirder was that they only targeted her. No one mentioned William, even though he was a lead character in the story.
Emelie didn’t look into it too much and just took a quick glance. However, she still managed to catch some people calling her nasty names, like a slut or an escort.
