Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 388

“Invite them in,” Gwendolyn uttered calmly.

Two men dressed as bodyguards walked in and bowed at Gwendolyn respectfully. “Ms. Harris, Old Mr. Zipper sent us here. He wishes to terminate the contract between Mr. Zipper and Angle Corporation. We were also instructed to bring Mr. Zipper back with us.”

Gwendolyn kept mum for a while. Old Mr. Zipper is doing this to minimize my losses because he’s afraid that Joaquin might drag me down.

“I’m not terminating the contract. Please tell Old Mr. Zipper I’ll stand by Joaquin’s side no matter what happens!” she eventually replied.

The bodyguards exchanged glances.

They were merely there to relay a message, so neither of them could make a decision. Hence, they said, “In that case, please hand Mr. Zipper over to us. We need to bring him back to Fairlake.”

Gwendolyn knew Patrick would surely punish Joaquin. Regardless of whether Joaquin is responsible for what’s happening, the scandal is all over the internet, so the Zipper family’s business must’ve taken a hit as well. It’s obvious that Old Mr. Zipper is enraged. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have sent his men here for Joaquin. If Joaquin ends up in their hands, he’ll be punished severely.

The bodyguards were waiting for Gwendolyn’s response. “Ms. Harris?” one of them voiced.

The bodyguard’s voice brought Gwendolyn back to her senses. With a serious expression, she answered, “We lost contact with Joaquin, and we’re still trying to locate him. Please tell Old Mr. Zipper that if I locate Joaquin, I’ll help him discipline Joaquin before sending him back to Fairlake so that Old Mr. Zipper can do the same.”

The bodyguards exchanged glances once again. “We haven’t been able to find Mr. Zipper, either. In fact, we couldn’t even reach his phone. Hence, we thought he was hiding here.”

“He’s not here. I only learned about the scandal minutes ago,” she uttered in response.

“All right, then. We’ll leave you to it.”

Gwendolyn nodded and told Joanne to see the bodyguards off.

The moment the bodyguards left, Gwendolyn’s phone rang.

Gwendolyn smiled and shook her head helplessly. What’s going on today? Why is everything happening at once? I can’t even take a breather.

She then picked up her phone and saw that it was a call from Cedrick.

“I saw the trending topic on the internet and the statement Angle Corporation had published,” Cedrick said in a stern tone the second the call connected.

“So? Are you also asking me to give up on Joaquin?” Gwendolyn questioned.

Cedrick went silent for a few seconds before responding, “I’ve already gotten Swain to locate Joaquin. Would you like to see him, Gwenny?”

Gwendolyn was slightly stunned because she didn’t expect Cedrick to beat her to it. I was just about to get someone to locate Joaquin!

Before Gwendolyn could answer him, Cedrick added, “If you’re interested, Gwenny, come downstairs. I’m already in Angle Corporation’s underground parking lot.”

Dumbfounded, Gwendolyn asked, “What? Are you already here? You’re quick!”

Cedrick said in a hoarse and alluring voice, “The second rule in the family rule says that men must always prioritize their wives. I must show my effort, no?”

Gwendolyn was pleased, so she teased, “You’re becoming more obedient, aren’t you, Ceddy? Does that mean we no longer need to keep the ruler and the rod in the house?”

“Sure! In that case, I’ll get rid of the plank and the Lego pieces tomorrow!”

“No,” Gwendolyn uttered unhesitatingly. She thought those tools could come in handy in the future. “I need to keep my belongings. I’ll be there soon.”

A couple of minutes later, Gwendolyn took the elevator downstairs and saw the familiar car in the parking lot from afar. Besides, she also saw a handsome figure leaning against the car door.

Upon seeing Gwendolyn approaching, Cedrick opened the passenger door for her and fastened her seatbelt for her after she entered the car.

When his face was right in front of Gwendolyn, she took the opportunity to give him a peck on the lips.
