Everyone surrounded Kieran the moment he walked out.
Treyton asked nervously, “So?”
Kieran said nothing as he kept his head down, expressionless. No one could tell if the results were good or bad.
When they saw his face, dread filled their hearts.
Gwendolyn said resignedly, “Kieran, just tell us. Even if the results are bad, it’s not going to get any worse than this. I can handle it.”
Kieran remained quiet. Under everyone’s gazes, he walked toward Gwendolyn and hugged her tightly.
A little smile appeared on his haughty face. “My precious little sister, Gwen, is the daughter of the Harris family!”
Upon hearing that, everyone felt relieved.
Cedrick was the only one with a scowl on his face. He walked forward, separated Gwendolyn from Kieran’s embrace, and pulled her back to him.
“You’re adults now. Even if you guys are siblings, you should still keep some distance between each other.”
“Oh, you!” Gwendolyn glanced helplessly at Cedrick as she slowly reached inside his robe and pinched the soft part of his waist.
Treyton breathed a sigh of relief in secret and complained, “Kieran, could you not scare us like that? When can you learn to look happier when you’ve got good news? Geez!”
Will he ever find a wife if he continues to act this way? What kind of woman can handle him, anyway?
Kieran remained expressionless as he completely ignored Treyton.
Then, they started discussing the homecoming feast, which was happening the next day.
After that, Kieran and Treyton snuck back to Mount Tranquil so that a certain someone at home wouldn’t be suspicious.
Despite confirming her identity, Gwendolyn still had something on her mind, and she couldn’t fall asleep.
Cedrick noticed that. He pulled her into his arms and kissed her forehead.
“Gwenny, I know how hard this is for you, especially since it was the family you’ve loved for more than twenty years that betrayed you.”
Gwendolyn’s eyes turned red, and she buried her face in his chest without saying anything.
He continued, “But, Kieran’s right. Besides, I can’t really believe it either. Maybe… he has his reasons. No matter what happens, you should hear him out before making your decision when you see him tomorrow.”
She nodded slowly and wrapped her arms around his waist tighter.
“You’re pregnant now. No matter how much you don’t want to rest, our babies need their rest. Do it for them, okay? Try to calm your mind and get some sleep.”
“But… I really can’t fall asleep. It’s suffocating…”
Cedrick sighed inwardly as he tried to find a way to calm her down. “How about I tell you a bedtime story?”
“No! You’re a terrible storyteller!” Gwendolyn rejected.
“That’s how I’ll bore you to sleep.”
She was speechless.
That makes sense. Oh my goodness, I have nothing to say if he puts it that way.
Giving up, she listened to Cedrick’s stories in his hypnotic voice for twenty minutes before she fell asleep.
A few hours later, the sun rose.
The homecoming feast of the Harris family began at seven o’clock in the evening at Marcus’ villa on Mount Tranquil.
