Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 442

“Inez…” he called out gently, his brows furrowed.

It was Inez’s first time seeing his pained expression, so she was taken aback for a moment. It took her some time to regain her senses before she closed her eyes.

“Kieran, I’m a fiancée of the Campbell family. We aren’t in a relationship. If you do anything to me today, my reputation will be ruined.”

Kieran immediately sobered up upon hearing this.

“Sorry for my impertinence.”

He got up and sat on the chair next to her.

The imprints of his teeth were visible on his lower lip, forming a bloody streak. He was trembling, and his face was flushed crimson. It was obvious he was having a hard time.

The moment Kieran let go of Inez, she ran toward the door without looking back.

Kieran looked at her retreating figure and laughed bitterly to himself.

If only I had realized my feelings sooner. It’s only when I lose her that I feel the pain.

He tried to endure it, but the warmth intensified, setting his skin ablaze with a searing heat that seemed to ignite his being.

Just as he was on the brink of succumbing, the door was pushed open quickly.

Inez had returned and brought a manager to help him.

Kieran felt touched by Inez’s return.

Over at Harrick Villa, Zoey was puzzled when she noticed Cedrick walking down the stairs while supporting himself on the banister.

“Mr. Jenson, what happened to your leg? Is it rheumatism?”

Cedrick was burning with anger. As he limped, he replied, “Yes. My knee is hurting.”

Zoey looked at the sunny weather, confused. “But it didn’t rain last night in Salinsburgh. Why would you get rheumatism?”

He scowled and coughed a few times. Then, he explained with a straight face, “Gwenny took most of the blanket last night, so I might have caught the cold.”

“Oh, I see.” Zoey sensed something was off but couldn’t pinpoint it. “Then, remember to take medicine. Don’t get too close to the babies before you recover to avoid spreading your sickness to them.”

“Okay,” he answered without any hesitation.

It would be good to stay away from the kids. If I do something wrong again, I might get beaten up.

As they chatted, the sounds of footsteps sounded from the third floor.

Cedrick immediately instructed Zoey, “Did you come downstairs to prepare the milk bottles for the babies? Then, you should go and do it, and don’t ask so many questions.”

“Okay, Mr. Jenson.”

Zoey turned to head back into the kitchen.

Gwendolyn had left in a hurry just now. Seeing he was leaning on the banister, she reached out to support him by holding his arm.

“Does it still hurt? I thought we already applied ointment on it last night?”

Cedrick furrowed his brows aggrievedly and complained softly, “How could applying ointment once make the swelling disappear after being on the Lego pieces for two hours?” He wrapped his arms around her waist tightly “When are you going to give me a reward for accepting the punishment?”

Taking in his aggrieved expression, Gwendolyn leaned in and kissed him affectionately.

“There’s a business gala in two days. When I return, I’ll take good care of you at night, okay?”

Cedric was already content with the time cut from a week to two days.

However, he sensed something wrong with her words.

“What do you mean by when you return? Are you planning to go alone and leave me here in the villa?”

Gwendolyn nodded. “I don’t feel at ease if neither of us is here in the villa and only Mdm. Yarde is taking care of the children.”

“That won’t do! I’m going with you,” he said resolutely.
