Noticing Cedrick’s darkened expression, Nico hurriedly stepped forward and dragged Summer away.
He even pretended to be solemn and lectured Summer, “How many times have I told you? Gwendolyn is Cedrick’s precious, only to be admired and not touched. If you infuriate him, he’ll have me discipline you.”
Summer puffed her cheeks in anger, sulking silently.
Gwendolyn’s face turned red when she heard Nico saying she was Cedrick’s precious.
She waved Summer over to her side and said to Cedrick, “You can start preparing the meal now. Let Nico and Treyton assist you. I’ll bring Summer upstairs to meet the babies.”
Summer instantly brightened up, cheerily jogging back to Gwendolyn’s side. Subsequently, the two went upstairs together.
The three men in the living room exchanged glances. Nico and Treyton didn’t know how to cook at all, clueless even about how to clean the vegetables, let alone anything else.
The atmosphere swiftly turned a little awkward.
In the end, Treyton and Nico stood by the kitchen door, watching Cedrick prepare the food in a practiced manner.
Cedrick’s proportion was perfect. He had long legs and a lean waist. He rolled up his sleeves to reveal his strong and muscular arms. As he meticulously prepped the ingredients, his exquisite facial features were arranged into an exceptionally serious expression.
After observing him silently for a while, Treyton sincerely exclaimed, “Kiddo is truly amazing. When we were in Fairlake, I never imagined she could train you so well. If this scene is broadcast live, I believe those executives and directors of Jenson Group will be shocked to see their usually stern and aloof CEO put on a black apron and cook in the kitchen.”
Nico stifled a laugh with his fist. “I’m also curious about when your cooking skills improve so much, Cedrick. I guess Gwendolyn must’ve helped a lot in honing your skill.”
They were all men and closely acquainted with one another, so there was nothing to be embarrassed about.
Recalling the past, Cedrick smiled in resignation. “The first meal I cooked for Gwenny was charred pork ribs and overly-seasoned bacon.”
Treyton’s expression changed at once. “Did she actually eat that disaster of a meal?”
Cedrick laughed even more helplessly. “As astute as Gwenny is, how could she have possibly eaten it? She forced me to finish the food, almost making me vomit out my gastric acid.”
Nico and Treyton burst into a fit of unrestrained laughter.
Treyton said, “Kiddo inherited Kieran’s cunningness. Her mind is filled with all kinds of trickery.”
Nico also chimed in, “If Gwendolyn were to publish a training manual, I reckon it would become a bestseller!”
The trio laughed, filling the kitchen with a harmonious atmosphere.
Sometimes, men’s happiness is simple like that. Once they shared some embarrassing stories, they could hit it off in no time.
Once the fragrant barbeque supper was ready, Cedrick called Gwendolyn and Summer downstairs, and the five shared a warm meal.
An hour later, it was past midnight.
The sky turned pitch black, and the entire city was tranquil. Only the ambiance in Harrick Villa remained lively.
Treyton, harboring pent-up frustrations, drank a lot of alcohol and quickly got dead drunk.
He clung to Cedrick’s arm and his eyes were red as he mumbled continuously, “Jennifer, I was wrong. It was all my fault. Please forgive me. Come back…”
Cedrick grimaced, placing his hand on Treyton’s forehead and mercilessly pushing him away.
Intoxicated, Treyton looked heartbroken, as though he had been refused an apology. Sorrow and despair filled his countenance.
Cedrick had no choice but to knock Treyton out. Then, he instructed Nico, “It’s getting late. When you leave, remember to arrange for Elven outside the door to send Mr. Treyton home.”
“Okay. Rest assured, Cedrick.”
After everyone left, the late-night gathering finally came to an end.
Gwendolyn leaned on the table with one hand propping her chin and appeared lost in thought.
She hadn’t consumed much alcohol earlier, but a blush adorned her face at that moment, making her look exceedingly beautiful and alluring.
Craig didn’t return. Only Lucas and Jasmine were sitting around the table.
Hearing that Gwendolyn had come, Jasmine put down her spoon and went out to greet Gwendolyn at once.
“Gwen, did you come here to see me on purpose?” She happily took Gwendolyn’s hand.
Gwendolyn pursed her lips and smiled. “That’s right. I had some free time, so I thought I’d come over and see you. Is it convenient for me to go in for a chat?”
“Of course.”
Jasmine led Gwendolyn into the house with alacrity, but they were stopped by Craig’s bodyguard stationed outside the door.
“Ms. Jasmine, Mr. Craig ordered that no outsiders are allowed to enter the house during this time.”
Jasmine pouted in displeasure and snapped, “Go away! Gwendolyn is not an outsider.”
The bodyguard remained unyielding. “Mr. Craig said that anyone whose family name is not Newton is considered an outsider. Please don’t make things difficult for us. Otherwise, we’ll have to report this to Mr. Craig.”
“You!” Jasmine was beside herself with rage. “Are you threatening me?”
The bodyguard lowered his head, not refuting. He was making his intention clear with his silence.
Jasmine was furious, but there was nothing she could do. If Craig were informed of that, he would definitely unleash his wrath on her and punish her.
Gwendolyn tactfully grabbed Jasmine’s wrist and asked in an undertone, “What’s going on? Why is the security at the Newton residence suddenly so tight and no one is allowed to enter?”
Jasmine’s anger intensified at the mention of that. “It’s all because of that Jennifer who returned a few days ago!”
Gwendolyn frowned warily. “What happened to her?”
