Chapter 464 Drunk
Inez stared at his computer. “But you haven’t finished your work yet.”
“Can you wait for me for half an hour?” He regarded her with a solemn look.
When their eyes met, Inez felt her heart skip a beat.

She averted her gaze and compromised. “Half an hour is the maximum, not a minute over.”
“Okay.” Kieran immediately returned to his seat and quickly adjusted himself into work. mode to handle the tasks at hand.
Later that night, the gathering took place at a bar lit with neon lights and filled with debauchery.
There were more than ten men and women inside the private room. By the time Inez and Kieran arrived, everyone else was already there, having a great time.
Kieran had been absorbed in his medical research over the years and never involved himself in any of Harris Group’s affairs. Naturally, he never participated in any social gatherings.
He wasn’t fond of the place that was filled with alcohol stench. From the moment he stepped into the room, he knitted his brows, looking aloof and unsociable.
Inez could fathom he was uncomfortable with the complicated atmosphere. When they walked into the room, she turned around and whispered, “If you’re not used to it, just wait for me outside or take a cab back to the Mossey residence.”
With that, she shifted her eyes back to the scene inside the room, quickly putting on a cordial smile on her face.
However, Kieran grabbed her wrist and asked with a somewhat strained voice, “Inez, do you frequent places like this?”
She lowered her gaze, hiding the sorrow in her eyes, and replied nonchalantly, “I’m Mossey Corporation’s heir, so it’s my duty to rejuvenate my family’s business. Whether I like it or not, I must attend such gatherings.”
She pried her hand from Kieran’s grip, turned around, and entered the room.
When the people inside saw her walking in, they immediately greeted her enthusiastically.
Someone noticed the man behind her. “I heard Ms. Mossey has broken off her engagement
vins the Campbell family, so is this her new love interest? He’s so handsome!
Inez turned her head around and saw that Kieran hadn’t left. Instead, he stood quietly behind. her.
She curled her lips into a smile and explained, “This is my new secretary. I brought him here to let him gain some exposure.”
Only after answering the other CEO’s question did she lean closer to Kieran and whisper, “Why did you come in? This place isn’t suitable for you. You should leave.”
He shook his head firmly. “If even you can adapt to this, I have nothing to be apprehensive about.”
Since he insisted, she didn’t persuade him further. She took the initiative to hold his hand and led him to an empty couch to sit down.
Kieran lowered his head and looked at the hand she was holding.
The warmth in his palm felt so real.
Subsequently, throughout the gathering, every toast directed at Inez was intercepted by
Kieran.
After three rounds of drinks, Kieran’s handsome face was flushed, and he felt dizzy. Obviously, he was getting a little tipsy.
Inez shook her head in resignation. He’s already drunk so much on an empty stomach. His alcoho tolerance is sufficiently impressive for him to hold up for three rounds.
“Ms. Mossey, this toast is to you. I look forward to future collaborations with Mossey Corporation.”
She recollected her thoughts, promptly raised her glass gracefully, and responded with at smile. “Likewise, Mr. Duncan.”
Someone grasped her wrist when she was about to gulp the wine.
Kieran had a dazed look. Still, he was determined to drink on her behalf.
She hastily leaned in and admonished, “You’re so heavy. I won’t be able to carry you back to the Mossey residence alone. It’s just a few glasses, so I won’t get drunk. Rest assured.”
He shook his head and uttered honestly, “I wasn’t around before to do things you don’t like. for you. Now that I’m here, I don’t want you to be troubled by these things and constantly force yourself to do things you’re uncomfortable with.”
Inez was slightly stunned. That was the first time she had heard such straightforward words.
While she was distracted, Kieran took the glass of wine from her hand and gulped the
content.
Consequently, he paid the price for his stubbornness by ending up drunk.
Inez was stumped.
She was touched by his gesture a few moments ago, but the fleeting emotion dissipated without a trace the next second.
Another female CEO noticed Kieran was hammered and took the initiative to express her concern, even reaching out to pat his exquisite countenance, trying to help him sober.
Inez quickly pulled Kieran into her arms, preventing anyone else from touching him.
She said jokingly, “I’m sorry, Ms. Lily. My secretary has a quirky temperament and severe mysophobia. Even I can’t stand him.”
The woman who Inez addressed as Ms. Lily clicked her tongue. “It seems like you’re interested in him, Ms. Mossey.”
Inez merely smiled without saying a word.
After another round of drinking, the sky turned darker, and the people at the gathering gradually dispersed.
Half an hour later, only Inez, holding a drunken Kieran, was left sitting on the couch.
She couldn’t carry her alone, but the idea of other women helping also made her uncomfortable.
Hence, she decided to stay a little longer, calling the butler at home and asking him to send the bodyguard and driver over to pick them up.
The bodyguard acted swiftly. Twenty minutes later, they found the right private room. according to Inez’s instruction and carried Kieran on his back.
Soon, the party arrived at the Mossey residence.
The bodyguard brought Kieran back to the room. When Inez climbed up the stairs, she ran into Madelyn, who happened to be coming down.
Madelyn stopped Inez, who was about to go back to her room, and asked, “What happened to Mr. Kieran? How did he get so drunk?”
Exhausted, Inez replied helplessly, “He insisted on drinking wine on my behalf on an empty stomach. What do you expect would happen?”
The corner of Madelyn’s mouth twitched. Seeing Inez was about to leave again, she added, “He got drunk because of you, so shouldn’t you take care of him in his room?”
Inez was puzzled. “Mom, am I really your biological daughter? I’ve been working the whole day, but you’re not concerned about me and even want me to care for him?”
Madelyn gently patted her daughter’s beautiful face. “Of course, you’re my biological daughter, but this is Mr. Kieran’s first time staying at our house as a guest. As the host, we should take care of him, especially since he got drunk because of you.”
Despite how logical Madelyn’s argument sounded, Inez was still reluctant to comply. “He’s a secretary in my company. Since when does the boss personally care for a drunken subordinate?”
Madelyn smiled. “We’re at home, so forget about those rules at the office. Be good and take care of Mr. Kieran in his room. You can help him wash his face or wipe his body. I’ll go make him some coffee to relieve his hangover.”
