After the joyful and harmonious time passed, Cedrick led Gwendolyn downstairs.
The door to the basement was opened. After a night of remodeling, the place had been completely transformed.
She stared at the interior in shock. The carpet was made of a unique material that was soft to fall on. Even the entire room's walls were covered with a similar kind of protective green paper.
The place was no longer cluttered with miscellaneous items.
In the middle of the room, two sturdy leather sandbags were suspended from the ceiling, along with an abundance of tools for unleashing her fury that would not harm her.
The basement door had been reinforced with heavy metal, so it wouldn't be easy to kick open. However, in order to prevent Gwendolyn from getting hurt during her fits of rage, Cedrick also covered it with a layer of special padding.
A bed was placed in the corner of the room, and the quilt, pillows, and mattress were all of the softest materials.
All she could feel at that moment were Cedrick's love and thoughtfulness.
He held her hand tightly with their fingers intertwined. “Gwenny, sleep here tonight. I'll be waiting at the door the whole time. If you're fortunate not to have an episode, I'll carry you back to our room to sleep. If you do have one, I'll wait for you to finish working off your rage before coming in and taking you to the laboratory for an IV drip. What do you say?”
That way, Cedrick wouldn't get hurt, and Gwendolyn wouldn't have to torture herself by putting on handcuffs. That was the most promising method to try for the time being.
“I like this arrangement. Thank you, Hubby.” She tiptoed and planted a smooch on his face.
It seemed like she could never get tired of kissing him.
Cedrick lifted her hand, staring at the bandage on her wrist with an aching heart.
He carefully kissed her bandage. “The sufferings will pass. No matter what, I'll always stay by your side.”
Gwendolyn smirked and agreed with him solemnly, “Our sufferings will pass soon, but someone's torment is about to begin.”
Her eyes gleamed with passion for seeking vengeance as she spoke.
After exiting the basement, she drove to Harris Group as usual.
Two days ago, she had sent many of her confidants to interfere with Annie's collaboration, so she reckoned it was about time she checked on the outcome.
What goes around comes around. It's time for someone to feel the agony of an impending doom now.
As soon as she sat down at her office desk, someone knocked on her door. Zion Yackley, who had successfully seized the project collaboration from Annie, entered with a document in his hand.
“Ms. Harris, this is the original partnership between Antea Group and TOA. I've been persuading TOA's person in charge recently and finally succeeded in securing the contract. Not to mention, they backed out right when they and Antea Group were about to sign the agreement.”
It was truly heartbreaking for Antea Group, as the collaboration they thought they could secure effortlessly was intercepted at the last moment before the contract was signed.
Gwendolyn was pleased. “You did well. Tell me the details.”
Zion nodded respectfully and started recounting enthusiastically.
When he was done, he added, “That's about it. You should've seen the look on Annie's face when she walked out of the conference room. Her eyes were red from rage, evidently unwilling to accept that outcome. You really did her dirty this time.”
She snorted inwardly. It's just one mere partnership. This is nothing. Since Annie's backer is Paul, I'll take down Antea Group and leave her with no one to rely on.
After being set up to be involved in a car accident, secretly plotted against, and getting hit on the back of her head with a stick, Gwendolyn wanted Annie and Paul to pay a dear price for all those incidents.
Intercepting the collaboration and letting their company suffer monetary losses were only the beginning of her plan.
She also had to find out Annie's identity.
Gwendolyn grew more excited the more she thought about it. “Well done securing this collaboration. You may go to the finance department to claim the bonus you deserve.”
“Thank you, Ms. Harris.” Zion was unable to hide the joy in his eyes.
