Chapter 572 Gwendolyn Fainted
Annie patted her on the hand as consolation and continued, “Don’t worry, Mrs. Harris. I am simply helping you and Mr. Asher reclaim what rightfully belongs to you two while getting Antea Group a couple of collaboration projects while I’m at it. There’s no way I’d harm anyone’s life!”
She then leaned in close and whispered into Sienna’s ear, “The preparations for tomorrow night are complete. All you have to do is play along with me, Mrs. Harris.”
Given how cautious Annie was being Sienna decided not to ask any further as doing so would only make her suspicious.
“It’s getting late. You should get some rest, Ms. Annie.”
Sienna then pulled her hand back and made her way upstairs.
Annie simply watched her go without saying a word.
The next day, Gwendolyn took her own sweet time returning to Mount Tranquil after completing her preparations.
Because Asher’s legs were hurting, he never left his bed except to shower and use the bathroom. Sienna even had to feed him his meals in bed.
The chefs were busy preparing dinner in the kitchen when Gwendolyn arrived. She caught a whiff of the fragrant aroma of the food the moment she entered the house.
Sienna and Annie welcomed her at the front door, but she simply flashed them a cold look before heading upstairs to check on Asher.
“Sienna, Ms. Annie, please step outside for a bit. There is something that I would like to discuss with Asher in private.”
“All right. Don’t take too long, though. Dinner is almost ready.”

Gwendolyn nodded and waited until the two had left the room before locking the door from inside. She then walked up to the frail Asher, who was leaning on the headboard, and sat down beside his bed.
“What would you like to ask me about, Ms. Harris?” Asher asked in a hoarse voice.
“I want to know what you’re running away from.”
“What do you mean by that?” he asked, lowering his gaze.
“With your strong physique, it’s not possible for you to remain bedridden for three days straight even though your rheumatism was acting up, and yet, look at you now. You refuse to get out of bed and need Sienna to feed you every meal,” Gwendolyn said, exposing his pretense instantly.
Asher simply blinked at her and lowered his gaze in silence.
“You want to stay out of this and let Annie and I fight each other so you can side with the winner later on. Is that what you’re trying to do?” Gwendolyn pressed on.
Asher clutched at the blanket without saying a word.
Gwendolyn shot him an icy–cold glare before gracefully standing up and smoothening out the wrinkles
on her skirt. “I suggest you take some time to think this through. If Annie is not related to Evelyn, then she will naturally have nothing to do with you. If the contrary is true, however, you will have to make a choice. Just keep in mind that Kieran, Treyton, and everyone else in the Harris family will never forgive you if you make the wrong choice, and Sienna will suffer along with you,” Gwendolyn said before turning around and walking toward the door.
“I’m not running away from anything, Kiddo. I just…”
Not wanting to hear his explanation, Gwendolyn opened the door and walked straight out of the master bedroom without sparing him another glance.
Asher had a conflicted look in his eyes as he stared at the empty room around him.
Sienna and Annie were already seated at the dining table by the time Gwendolyn made her way downstairs.
They seemed to be having a pleasant conversation.
Gwendolyn walked up to the table and sat down at the main seat.
The look on Annie’s face was frozen for a split second when she saw that Gwendolyn did not even think to leave that seat vacant for Asher. However, she was quick to regain her composure and went back to smiling gently again.
Since everyone had already taken their seats at the dining table, the chefs quickly served up the food.
“Did we hire a new chef?” Gwendolyn asked Sienna when she saw that some of the dishes were new.
“Yes, that’s right. Ms. Annie said she wanted to have some Ospean food, so we hired a chef from Ospea to prepare them for her. These five dishes are the ones that new chef made.”
Gwendolyn picked up her fork and tasted one of the dishes that resembled tater tots.
“Hmm, it tastes pretty good.”
She then shot the Ospean chef, who was standing behind her, a glance.
“I’m simply amazed by your elegance and grace when cutting the steak, Ms. Harris. Who would’ve
