Chapter 595 Cedrick Asks To Be Punished
Nico exchanged glances with Cedrick in dismay.
Despite Cedrick’s gentlemanly demeanor, his words sounded like the devil’s whisper.
“You should clean up your own mess. If you fail to do so, I have a hundred ways of doing it for you. Do you want to try?”
With his knees going weak, Nico turned toward Gwendolyn and explained meekly, “Gwendolyn, I was being over dramatic just now. It isn’t as bad as it sounds. Cedrick had rescued a female university student who was kidnapped by terrorists during her travels. No one expected her to end up falling for him. Although she kept clinging onto him for a couple of days, you can rest assured that Cedrick stayed away from her, as you’re the only one he cares about. Not only did he firmly reject the girl a few times, but he also got Neville to take her home after that.”

Nico finished the explanation as if he was pleading for his life.
The accurate recount of the incident brought a sense of relief to Cedrick, as he didn’t feel that he had done anything wrong in this instance.
In spite of that, he was surprised to see Gwendolyn fall into deep thought after hearing Nico’s words.
A short while later, she regained her senses and asked, “Why didn’t you ever mention it after returning to
Salinsburgh? Since your conscience is clear, why didn’t you dare let me know?”
Her words caused Cedrick to freeze.
Nico’s expression drastically changed as he continued to explain, “Don’t be angry, Gwendolyn. Cedrick didn’t tell you because he was worried that you would overreact. I swear that he is absolutely loyal to you, Regardless of how other girls try to seduce him, he would never succumb to their charms.”
Instead of replying, Gwendolyn maintained her gaze on Cedrick.
Even the smallest of his movements didn’t escape her keen eye. The gulping of his throat was a sign of his nervousness, while the guilt on his face was unmistakable.
Nonetheless, given the presence of her brothers and sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn broke into a smile instead. “Don’t worry. Of course, I trust him.”
She then served Cedrick some food with a twinkle in her eye. “Come, Hubby, why don’t you have some more? You must be tired after preparing so many dishes. In fact, I’ll give you a massage tonight.”
Massage?
Cedrick’s palm froze. It’ll probably be more of a tormenting interrogation. I’m afraid I’ll be seeing the wooden ruler kept in the drawer soon.
Cedrick let out a quiet sigh as he mourned for himself. His mind began to formulate his defense as he prepared for the gathering storm at night.
Just like that, Gwendolyn changed the subject skillfully.
Laughter quickly returned to the table with the occasional clinking of glasses ringing out in the air.
Thereafter, the dinner turned out to be a drawn-out affair.
It wasn’t until it was nine-thirty in the evening that it finally ended.
Nico, who was half-drunk, had already started to babble nonsensically.
Once again, he reminisced about the ten years of his life at the border, where he lived like a caveman. Crying out in tears, he swore that he would forever remember the debt of gratitude he owed Cedrick and would repay it with his life.
Fortunately, Nico’s villa was nearby. Summer managed to bring him home by coaxing him while supporting him by the arm.
As for Gwendolyn’s three brothers, they led their other halves into the garage and drove back to their respective homes.
The messy kitchen was subsequently cleared up by Cedrick once everyone was gone.
Under normal circumstances, Gwendolyn would chat with him while helping to put the cutleries back where they belonged.
However, she returned to her room after dinner instead, leaving him behind to clean up the huge mess alone. It was as if she was punishing him for his lack of honesty at the table.
Mired in guilt, Cedrick resigned himself to getting the job done.
Half an hour later, he warily returned to the bedroom.
The door was left slightly ajar, allowing light from the room to spill through a small gap.
Upon gently pushing the door open, Cedrick could see Gwendolyn sitting on the bed and looking at her phone with her legs crossed.
As there was no sign of the terrifying wooden ruler next to her, Cedrick began to wonder.
Is she letting me off just like that? Does she not plan to question me anymore? Am I really going to get a massage?
Filled with uncertainty, Cedrick opened the door and walked toward Gwendolyn slowly. He then leaned in gingerly in an attempt to hug her. “Darling.”
Gwendolyn didn’t dodge but paid him no heed either. The cold shoulder she was giving him couldn’t be any more obvious.
Detecting the animosity she exuded, Cedrick snuck a glance at her screen.
He could see that she had their WhatsApp chat window open.
Hmm? Is she checking our chat log?
Upon taking a closer look, he saw the messages he sent her while he was still at the border, such as his telling her about the roasted wild rabbits and their tent.
It looked to him as if she was checking to see if he ever told her about the girl pursuing him.
Holding his breath and fearing the worst, Cedrick turned around and retrieved the long-sealed Lego pieces from the wardrobe.
Noticing what Cedrick was doing, Gwendolyn threw him a glance and asked in a nonchalant tone, “What
are you doing?”
The submissive look on Cedrick’s face was unmistakable. “It’s my fault for keeping what happened at the border from you, Gwenny. Therefore, I’m going to punish myself by kneeling on the Lego pieces in the
corner.”
“Don’t bother.” Gwendolyn gestured at the empty spot beside her with her eyes.
