Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 650

Chapter 650

Cedrick was stumped. “I’m not. I swear.”

“Then, aren’t you going to explain what happened between you and Natasha?” Gwendolyn pressed, not intending to let him off.

The man fell silent.

C-Can I really tell her? She’s going to punch me when we get back to the hotel.

Cedrick fell silent and mustered up the courage before speaking.

“Grandpa had already passed away when I agreed to get engaged to her, so there was no need to worry about having to go through such risks again.”

Gwendolyn nodded knowingly. “You felt that the Wright family was already safe, so even if she were to marry you, you wouldn’t have to worry about Maverick’s death. Still, that meant you still liked her, right? You were s

o resolute when you divorced me, and then you got engaged to her not long after.”

Her voice was calm, but there was a hint of iciness in it.

Cedrick didn’t know what to say.

He knew he was at fault.

“I never liked her. It was always you. I wasn’t clear about my own thoughts when I announced our engagement. It was also because she braved the storm and came over to the villa. She even brought up how grateful she was because I saved her, so I agreed to the engagement after weighing the pros and cons. The man took Gwendolyn’s hand and caressed it lightly. “Please, Darling…” he cooed somewhat pleadingly.

Gwendolyn retracted her hand, walked a few steps forward, and placed two bouquets of white flowers before Maverick’s gravestone. “These are all your own doings, Mr. Jenson. I have nothing to do with them, she said frostily.

Cedrick leaned over. Noticing her expression, he asked, “Are you upset?”

“No.”

“You are. It’s written all over your face.”

Gwendolyn continued facing Maverick’s grave, ignoring the man beside her.

“I’m sorry,” Cedrick admitted. “I know Natasha hurt you a lot of times in the past, and while she’s paid the price and is no longer in this world, it’s true that I used to protect her. If you’re mad at me, you can take it

out on me.”

He grabbed Gwendolyn’s hand and put it on his face, looking remorseful.

Gwendolyn shot him a glare, deliberately sounding stern. “I am quite mad, actually.”

“You can punish me according to your family’s rules, Darling.”

The woman snickered. “Fifty lashes with a belt, then. How about that?”

Cedrick clenched his jaw and gulped in silence before nodding. “Okay.”

Amused by his willingness to accept his impending fate, Gwendolyn whispered into his ear, “What if I want the punishment carried out right now?”

Huht

Cedrick began to lose his usually-calm demeanor. “R-Right now? Here?”

The woman stared at him grimly, neither confirming nor denying her statement. Still, she didn’t appear to be joking.

Cedrick held his breath and glanced around at the desolate cemetery, his usually-dark gaze now laced with a tinge of panic,

Am I really going to be punished at a place like this? This is too bizarre.

His charming face paled as he tensed up and braced himself.

Seeing how serious he looked, Gwendolyn couldn’t help but laugh. “You’re so silly! Let’s go.”

She tapped him on the forehead and held his hand, dragging him out of Fairlake Cemetery.

Cedrick looked down at the way she took his hand in hers.
