In the ward, the atmosphere was tense and strange. The air seemed to move with difficulty, the pressure dropping, making breathing increasingly difficult.
Felix kept staring at Vicki, his gaze unwavering. While Vicki felt something was off, she couldn't quite grasp what was wrong with Felix. Yet, Joyce had just told her to take care of Felix more, considering the severity of his injuries, so there might be some sense in it.
Breaking the silence, she asked, "Do you want some water?"
Felix furrowed his handsome brows. "Don't change the subject," he snapped.
"What subject?" Vicki was puzzled. "I just lit a cigarette out of habit earlier. I'll quit during pregnancy. I have that much self-control."
"I'm not talking about that," Felix said stiffly.
"Then what are you talking about? Felix, can you please be clear? What are you up to? You've been acting strange since you woke up. What's going on?"
Vicki looked displeased; she detested having to guess, finding it tiresome. "Am I causing a scene? Felix, have you been taking our child seriously?"
"I didn't have an abortion. What do you mean?" Vicki was even more puzzled. "If I didn't want the baby, would I have gone for a check-up just now?"
Felix took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "You almost took our child with you when you went to meet Seren. You still haven't explained that to me."
"I did explain. I told you I would protect you. Unless Seren died, I couldn't guarantee your safety." Vicki frowned, explaining once more, her patience wearing thin.
"And what about you? What if you died? Have you thought about me? Watching you die in front of me. Do you want me to live the rest of my life in pain and hell? What about the child? You've deprived them of the right to be born!" Felix almost roared. "You actually suggested I treat you as if I never knew you! Do you think that's possible? You're already engraved in my bones. Tell me, how am I supposed to act like nothing ever happened!"
Moving closer to Felix's bed, Vicki softened her tone. "At that moment, I didn't think about all that. I didn't realize I was pregnant; it was just a reflex. I didn't want you to die. Someone had to make the sacrifice, and I'd rather it be me."
Felix suddenly fell silent. Vicki wasn't usually expressive, but her words at this moment surpassed a declaration of enduring love. Could he interpret it as her valuing his life over her own?
He suddenly didn't know what to say; his thin lips trembled continuously.
Seeing him distressed, Vicki thought he might be feeling uncomfortable or recalling the dreadful incident that day. So, she leaned down and kissed his trembling lips.
Felix was stunned. She had just kissed him in the hospital, catching him off guard. Amid his surprise, he even forgot to return the kiss, letting her continue.
After her kiss stilled his trembling lips, she withdrew. Looking at him, she said, "Felix, are you frustrated? Is that why you're acting so strangely? Do you want me? Here? I can, you don't have to move. I consulted the doctor just now; I'm fine. I'm mainly concerned about your wound."

The readers' comments on the novel: Wrong marriage and sweet love (Joyce and Luther)
If this is the ending of this story the story then I wish I hadn’t started reading it doesn’t even end right has not closure. To bad these writers don’t put much into their endings....
When will the new chapters come I can't wait any longer...
Very strange ending, is Joyce pregnant again or does she still have remnants of the devil with her. Christian should have apologized and made up with Luther and Felix. Too much violence and twists and turns, once settled, everyone should be happy and healthy....
Omg… can’t you just let Luther and Joyce live in peace with their children….another controversy doesn’t add to the story....
Not again, ugh … just get rid of this disgusting despicable woman...
Hopefully the underground bio lab East523will be found soon and Luther will make a full recovery, Lily will be reunited with the family and all will be good. Otherwise this will be a very disappointing story....
Please don’t make more trouble for Joyce and Luther, they need to have their children and be happy...
Looking forward to Joyce shooting Otis where it will hurt him the most and end his disgusting ways with women. He’s a pig, deserves to lose his “unit”....
Just tell him you’re the one that saved him , not the evil woman and find your beautiful love story together. Quit being a wet blanket, too smart for that....
I hate it when the hero and heroine are made out to be fools for the evil people that wish to steal their lives and live. Hopefully Charlotte is found out quickly and removed. Why should a villain with an illegitimate child reap all the rewards. Terrible....
