Monique was struggling to refuse the bath towel. Was this a carrot and stick situation?
She did not need this.
“Get dressed, and don’t catch a cold. You’ll be working a full day starting from tomorrow and you’re not allowed to go out to take orders anymore.” Henry’s tone was cold and threatening.
‘Do not ever think of escaping from me!’
“You...” It turned out that he was worried she would fall sick and not be able to go to work.
Monique’s eyes turned red and her tears threatened to flow from her eyes. She did not wish to provoke him anymore so she turned around, wrapped herself in the towel, and walked toward the room.
The following days were surprisingly calm. Monique sent Henry to the company as usual. Henry was overreacting again, as if they were suddenly back on track. She sent him to work and waited for him to get off work at the office. Then she picked him up from work, ate together, slept together, yet they did not speak a word to each other.
Mrs. Lawson got anxious when she noticed this, and Angel looked worried too. Her mother’s face turned pale whenever she mentioned her father so she could only keep quiet.
“Fate brought us together in this chaotic world, but destiny also made us fall in love in the hardest times...” Monique’s phone surprisingly rang.
Monique picked up her phone and looked at it—it was a call from her uncle.
Henry heard Monique’s phone rang. The pen in his hand paused and he started eavesdropping.
Was the phone call from that man last time?
Monique’s thin and fair hand pressed the answer key, she smiled broadly. “Uncle.”
‘Oh, that’s her uncle.’ He proceeded with his work.
“Monique, how are you? I heard that you were kidnapped.” Uncle’s voice from the other side of the phone sounded anxious and worried.
Monique was stunned. ‘How did uncle find out about this?’
“How did you know?” Monique asked in response, her voice sounding uneasy.
