Monique immediately sped out from the office, not giving Yvonne another glance.
Charlotte was the first of the crowd to come back to her senses as she quickly caught up to Monique. "Ms. Xander…"
Yvonne was still petrified as she watched the slim figure elegantly leave, suddenly seeming unfamiliar to her.
"What are you waiting for? Hurry up and get back to work! Do you want to be fired?" Felix roared at Yvonne at the top of his voice.
Yvonne snapped out of it and hurriedly went back to her desk.
The crowd’s talking continued echoing within the office, even after Monique left. "It turns out that the sister climbed the social ladder using the chairman’s name and now doesn’t acknowledge the existence of her own family."
"No wonder her sister was only assigned to be a customer service executive."
"Oh my, she thought she would have a strong support. Looks like that failed."
"Just now, her sister mentioned that she had to go back to work. Does that mean that she has a post in the company too?"
"I have no idea. It's news to me."
"Also, that woman is no famous, rich young lady, but a child fresh out of foster care. Why did the chairman fall for her?"
"Are you all so free?" Mr. Jayden came out and scolded everyone.
The gossiping crowd quickly dispersed and headed back to their seats, not daring to make a sound.
Hearing the critical comments, Yvonne's expression paled. She heard that the chairman would be outstation for a few days and she had not had the opportunity to meet with him yet. She could not get herself fired without meeting the chairman personally.
She blamed Monique for causing her to be criticized. However, she dared not risk creating more trouble. All she could do was glare mercilessly at the crowd, who was still gossiping about her.
At the same moment, Hannah brought a stack of documents that Yvonne was supposed to photocopy. "The best thing you can do is depend on yourself and not others. Hurry up and start working for real; your sister gave you another chance."
