"What's there to ask? Yesterday, this lady cheated some money off of Miss Sophia and today, her daughter stole our handphone." Mrs. Whitman straightened her neck as she spoke. Since she had no idea where the handphone came from, she might as well just swindle her way through by claiming that it is hers. If things went well, she might even end up able to take it home so her grandson could play with it.
"I did not steal that phone. Daddy gave it to me. Give it back," Angel said righteously, stretching out her fair, chubby little arm.
Monique believed Angel was not lying and the handphone might have been a gift from Henry. "Hand the phone over to the teachers for now. Let them investigate this thoroughly."
Mrs. Whitman sneered. 'How could this lady--who needed to borrow money from Miss Sophia yesterday--buy such an expensive handphone.' Mrs. Whitman put on a disdainful expression. "How can a poor girl like you buy such a phone? Do you even know how much it costs? A few thousand bucks. Now, hurry up and apologize to us. I might even consider forgiving you if you do."
Mrs. Whitman was just an average middle-class citizen who never needed to worry about making ends meet. However, in her entire life, she had never owned, nor seen a luxury item, which explained her ignorance about Monique's attire. Even Angel's clothes would cost approximately tens of thousands of bucks.
Miss Christine, who just had a conversation with her, was able to recognize the branded clothing Monique was wearing at a glance. She quickly advised Mrs. Whitman, "Aunty, I think it's best we investigate this entire incident before jumping to conclusions."
Mrs. Whitman was a distant relative to Miss Christine, which was why she called her 'aunty'. She wanted to prevent Mrs. Whitman from creating more chaos, so she tried a diplomatic approach.
Mrs. Whitman, realizing that Miss Christine was a distant relative of hers, became more arrogant when Miss Christine made her appeal. She forcefully pushed Angel's extended arm aside and started barking in a more ruthless tone, "You delinquent. You better apologize this instant, or don't think you can ever step foot in this kindergarten again."
Angel avoided being pushed to the ground with Monique’s support.
This made Monique, who was already in a foul mood, even madder. If not for Mrs. Whitman's advanced age, Monique would have slapped her.
