Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 378

Henry stared intently at Monique. “So you’re aware…”

He wrapped his strong arms around her waist and lifted her onto his thigh.

At that moment, Monique launched herself forward and caused the chair to tip over.

There was a loud crash as both the chair and the two bodies hit the floor.

Monique wrapped her hands around the back of Henry’s head during the fall.

The man was safe but pain radiated through both her hands.

“Ah…Hurts…” Monique’s eyebrows knitted together as she grimaced.

It did not occur to Henry that the woman protected him. He asked worriedly, “Are you alright?”

He checked her hands—the back of her hands were bruised red and there was a wound. The house was newly-furnished but it was short of a medical kit.

“I’ll take you to the doctor,” Henry said.

Monique shook her head and said, “Don’t worry. It’s just a minor wound. It’ll close up before we even reach the hospital.”

The woman must be fine if she could joke.

The tight lines on Henry’s face softened slightly as he said, “You’re quite thick-skinned.”

He gave Monique a hand and pulled her up from the floor.

It was an ungentlemanly gesture but Monique was just glad that the sexual tension from before dissipated.

The intentional fall was a last resort.

They were two single people sharing a room. It would not be unusual if something were to happen. Especially when they were in an ill-defined relationship.

Monique was not against the notion but she needed rest.

Seeking her chance, she put on her sweetest smile and asked, “Dearie, it’s late. Can we go home?”

“You don’t like it here?” Henry asked as he studied the woman.
