His heart melted at her words. Her admiration was gentle and cute.
“Yes?” Henry replied.
Angel opened her mouth, she wanted to say something, but words were stuck in her throat. Henry did not leave for the night. He kept Angel company to dinner, took a bath, and tucked her in bed. Angel obediently ate dinner, took a bath, and went to sleep after that. After she had fallen asleep, he walked to Monique’s room. The room still had a faint scent that Monique had left. He stood at the window and quietly stared at the garden.
Moore Manor was huge and had a grand scale garden. Most of the servants had already slept as the dim light from the night lamps could be seen from the windows. The garden was quiet--too quiet and it was suffocating. This was his first time he felt so lonely, depressed, and helpless.
Their smile and their gazes toward each other made them look like the perfect couple. It was as if a needle pricked his heart when he thought about it. When he saw the pictures, his heart raged with pain, like a beast ripped a part away from him. At that moment, his senses were blinded by anger. He wanted to get it off his chest and he wanted to get what he wanted.
He had been treating her well. How could she not see it?
Why was she always thinking of ways to escape?
Even when she climbed into his bed, she was only thinking about leaving him. His eyes were filled with frustration, yet it looked sad at the same time. He took a packet of cigarettes out of his pocket, took one out and lit it to smoke. He usually smoked, but it was rare. That night, he finished one after another.
His tall figure stood there like a statue. Every inch of him radiated coldness and his profile was tightened like a carved sculpture. His eyes were as cold as the icy breeze in the North Pole. He took a glance at the phone on the table, wondering if her fever had gone down.
Mandy returned from the Starry Kindergarten with fruitless results. She had offered him the best offer and benefits, and she saw the gleam in his eyes too. However, when he knew the condition was for him to leave the school and B City, he declined without hesitation. He came there not for money, so the common proposal could not move his heart.
She went back to the office and checked on Monique. Louise was taking care of her.
