Louise felt a tug in her chest. It seemed as though Monique was so deeply hurt that she could not even bear to hear his name. She scooped a spoonful of porridge and put it in front of Monique’s mouth. “You won’t feel so sad when your tummy is filled,”
Monique said weakly, “Thank you, I’ll eat on my own.”
Monique received the bowl from Louise. She looked a little worn out, probably from taking care of her the night before.
Now that she was awake, she felt embarrassed that she had to be fed by Louise.
Louise did not force her to eat. She looked at Monique and asked, “You were on the phone with Angel?”
Monique swallowed a mouthful of porridge and answered, “Uhm.”
The porridge Louise bought was really fragrant, but she had no appetite to eat it.
Louise did not want Monique to dwell in her sorrows and tried to change the topic by talking about Angel. “Angel is so smart. She even came to the office to look for me.”
“Hmm? How did you know that she asked for you?” Monique asked in surprise.
“She asked the front desk for my number and called me,” Louise said smilingly with pride in her eyes.
She had never seen a kid as intelligent as Angel.
She even managed to track the location of her mobile phone and found where she was—she was so close to finding her.
Louise was quite certain that it must be the chairman’s orders to send her downstairs. Otherwise, how would she know that Monique was in this residence?
He did not want Angel to find Monique.
However, she could not fathom the reason behind that.
Looking at Monique’s current state of mind, she dared not tell her that the man who came along with Angel got arrested by the police.
