She kept smiling, but her heart became sad and numb because of his words. The indescribable pain and coldness made her feel as if she had fallen into an ice hole.
She was surrounded by ice, which pierced her.
"A wife's right, is it enough?" After a long time, she raised her head and looked up at him, saying slowly.
"A wife's right..."
It seemed that Beau had been moved a little by this sentence.
"But I don't know whether you regarded me as your wife or not. Maybe I overestimated myself again."
She said coldly and indifferently with a wry smile. But it sounded so painful.
He looked at the face in front of him. She looked so stubborn and cold. With an impulsive thought, he wanted to reach out and touch her cheek. The feeling was so strong with a little unconscious pity.
After these words, she didn't look at them but walked straight into the bathroom and closed the door.
Leaning against the bathroom wall, she could clearly hear the sound coming from outside.
However, it was no other noise but the sound of breathing outside. After a while, footsteps were heard.
Two persons, one after the other.
She put on the smiling face too long that her face froze, so she moved the muscle of her face.
Then, she pushed open the bathroom door and walked out. Instead of going to the restaurant, she went straight to the elevator and pressed the button on the floor.
What did his birthday have to do with her?
Besides, there were too many people who would celebrate his birthday. It was not a big deal to have one more or less. Moreover, in his eyes, she was nothing.
She was an emotional person. As long as it belonged to her, she would try her best to defend and fight for it.
But if it didn't belong to her, she wouldn't even look at it even if someone else handed it to her.
She thought that he was hers and that she was reasonable, so she spoke righteous and aggressive words. But she lost because of one word from him.
She felt as if it was a stinging slap across the face which made her look like a funny clown.
Also, she would never cry in front of a man. She was not a soft person and would never be.
Walking on the street, feeling cold and bleak, Harriet lowered her gaze and stopped a taxi. She sat in and looked out of the window, lost in thought.
Seemingly thinking of something, she took out her mobile phone and called Senya. "Where are you now?"
"We're drinking at the Moonlight Bar. Do you want to come?" Senya had obviously drunk a lot and couldn't speak clearly.
"Alright, leave me two bottles of wine..." The corner of her mouth twitched and her heart hurt that much...
In the restaurant.
Mary went in first. After a while, Beau walked in and sat down.
Noticing that her eyes were slightly red, Sykes asked in surprise, "Mary, what's wrong with your eyes?"
Mary trembled slightly and twitched her mouth into a smile, then said indifferently, "The liquid soup splashed into my eyes, and I rubbed them a few times. So..."
That was it. Sykes looked at the door of the restaurant and said, "Where's Harriet? It's been so long, hasn't she finished the phone yet? The dishes would be cold soon..."
